    does that genuinely apply tonight?

sykes was getting paid and practically admitted defeat on the ring walk. he was looking for a way out from the first bell. how can anyone respect that?

Yeah, I agree with you. I mean Sykes knew that he was brought just as an opponent for Povetkin but atleast he could've put up a fight for his money.

He was there to get paid ...guess i respect the fact he took a fight he knew he couldnt win just to support his family.....or maybe he needed a new set of rims :yep i dunno ... taurus sucks shouldnt be allowed a serious fight again until he proves he actually wants and could handle one.

A certain amount of respect yeah, but Sykes didn't even try tonight. That was shambolic.

A man's heart and effort is a reflection of his true self. I like to see every fighter try their best and never quit but it doesn't always happen.

It's clear that Sykes was booked to step into the ring and lose, and that's exactly what team Povetkin got. If they think that that's the right preparation for Wlad, they'll be in for an ugly surprise...

    It won't surprise me tho...

Povetkin's people are using sparring to prepare for Wladimir. Sykes was just a fight for his hometown fans, as this fight was held in the city Povetkin lives in. They said in an interiew that they don't want to fight someone like Klitschko on TV so that they don't reveal what they have been working on.

Every man that steps into the ring and puts up a decent fight, that can walk away even in defeat knowing that they gave it 100%, and that gives there opponent respect, deserves respect in return.

Therefore this would exclude Sykes tonight and Yelenoff.

That's a stupid excuse for a fight against the likes of Sykes.

It's been said time and time again, that sparring does NOT equal a real fight. You can spar all you want, but you don't know **** until it's a real fight.
