Every time I watch Castillo vs Corrales 1

yeah, also Chico was very fortunate to have Tony Weeks reffing that fight maybe 90% of other refs would of stopped that fight at or before the 2nd KD.

Being clever about buying yourself some time isn't always just dumb luck. That's the clever part.

 

Yeah, but the referee handled it how he handled it. Clearly Corrales wasn't finished, because 40 seconds later he was handing Castillo his ass.

Honestly, I don't see much controversy here. Corrales broke the rules, was warned, broke it again, was penalized, got back to fighting, and he was throwing back after the second KD, and knocked Castillo's block off.

 

and he would have been wrong to do it seeing he came back in epic warrior fashion...why is this even a thread??? it was a great fight...a great show of heart by 2 warriors and u want to dispute it 5 years later?

 

Chico should have been DQ'd

That fight went as it should
Castillo was out and afterwards he never complained
Corrales was never out

 

Corrales did what he needed to do....he got the points deducted for spitting that mouth piece
At the end of the day it was Castillo who couldnt put away a hurt and stunned Chico Corrales.

 

that was not clever boxing...he had no clue what what going on ..he just knew something was keeping him from breathing....then he recovered and kod him...unbelievable...RIP CHICO

I guess Castillo should have got acouple mins to recover too than, it doesn't work like that if a fighter can't continue the bout is supposed to be stopped, he cheated by spitting his mouth piece out.

 

Corrales got a grand total of ten extra seconds. If the referee hadnt wave it, and Chico finished what he started, Castillo wouldn't have gotten up in time for a thirty count.

 

Best fight ever in my book. Tony Weeks refereeing was perfect...Castillo woulda died if he didn't stop it wen he did. Corrales was obviously able to continue (as he proved).

The only controversy is the excessive spitting of the mouthpiece. However, if Corrales was DQ'd for that, there would be an extreme uproar in boxing. It was simply a great tactical decision by Chico.

Side note: Goosen saying "You gotta ****ing get inside on him now" is EPIC. That and dundee telling leonard your blowing it son....By far most memorable/important lines in boxing history.


Do you think if goosen doesnt tell chico to "****ing get inside on him" or if dundee doesnt tell leonard "your blowing it son", that those finishes happen? I dont.
