Cerdan would be a real test for a prime Hagler, imo. Cerdan certainly doesn't strike me as a basic "come forward" fighter either, but perhaps that wasn't implied.
    Flowers I haven't seen.

Assuming Hagler delined further still between the Mugabi and Leonard fights, he's got his work cut out against PRIME versions of any great MW for sure. That's no knock on Mugabi, who I probably rate higher than others here, but "The Beast" falls short of being great in a few areas.

He certainly wasn't basic. He certainly was aggressive.

But it's the size difference here. 6" is a hell of a reach advantage to give to Marvin Hagler. That jab. He's also going to be stronger (Even past prime) so i'm not sure what Cerdan's plan is. Consider that Leonard gave only a single inch in reach. Six inches. Plus 2" in height.

I don't see much size difference. Cerdan is no smaller than Antuofermo, a better fighter, facing a worse Hagler in this scenario.

Hagler might win the fight. It's hard to say.
I thought he beat Leonard but he looked slow and it was quite close. His jab was still powerful against Mugabi but not the razor-sharp repeat weapon it had been 3 or 4 years earlier. Cerdan could rack up enough points and take the decision here, it's hard to say though.

6" is as big a difference as you will run across at MW, almost. It's a serious difference. It requires a specific tactical response. What would that be? Possibly infighting but I think that he would get beaten there and either way he'd get taxed on the way in.

Even naming Antuofermo doesn't take into account the size difference, I don't think. Cerdan was a welterweight at 26. Vito's career light weight was 151lbs, and he was a teen.

Leonard had a perfect skillset for upsetting ancient Hagler and still got by only in one of the most debated decisions in boxing history.
