I don't put too much into the meaning of the Lewis Vitali fight; it was two excellent fighters who didn't have adequate time to train for the other.

If Vitali had more than 2 or how many ever weeks, maybe he would have won. If Lewis had known he was training for Vitali and put in the proper fight camp, maybe he would have blasted Vitali early.

They fought each other without properly training for each other and gave us a fantastic all out war. Thats all I got from it.

If anything, maybe it was a preview or a trailer, possibly a TV version of what should have been a full blown feature film.

Still glad I got to see it though.

Winning a rematch with Vitali would have made Lewis look better then Vitali dominating a weak division. Vitali did not lose because he could no longer continue, he lost because the fight was stopped.. Justifiably so, but still Vitali would have continued.

Just more proof why Lewis chickened out of a rematch.

with every Vitali win case for rematch grows!

Sad it never happened would have been great fight regardless of result.

For those who say Lennox was past his prime and fat well lewis looked fine (body shape)sure Vitali was late replacement but he (vitali) aswell didn't have proper preperation.

After Lewis fight Vitali looked more confident so IMO Vitalis absolute prime was after Lewis vs Sanders and Williams which is shame. He had huge potential.

Still after 4 years retirement he came back and dominated Peter (who floored Wlad) without ANY tune up fights.

As for Lewis he was coming from two impressive knock out wins (Rahman, Tyson) he had world under his feet after destroying Tyson, he was so confident and said he plans to fight good couple years eating one Klitschko for breakfest other for dinner. Said wants to defeat Ruiz if i remember correctly.

Lewis said that he is like fine wine that gets better with age!

I think they both were not at their absolute prime that night and that had they both came around same time maybe we would have similar trilogy to bowe/holy; frazier/ali

And in the end I would like to say that Prime Vitali is much better then Wlad and more exciting!

    Sorry for my English! Peace.

Vitali looked like the better fighter in their fight.

vitalis style is designed around fighting smaller men. keeping his hands down by his waist and jabbing from the hip against Lewis of comparable size and he ate some massive right hands.

Hes a handful for any fighter ever thats for sure.

and Lewis never quit not got his face hambugered! what's your ****ing point! both are great fighters but Lewis has wins over Holyfield, Tyson, and Vitali and much more he is a legend and probably the best heavyweight in history or 2nd best.

Vitali didn't stop Adamek, he was stopped by the ref, how ******ed do you want to get with this man?

Vitali was told in round 3, "you've got 3 rounds", he knew what he had to do and couldn't do it, end game.

Big difference bettween the two stoppages Vitali won almost every round of the fight and was more then willing to keep on fighting. God forbid a prize fighter ends up with a bad scar.

Yes but you seem to forget that a Klitschko was the second best heavy behind Lewis for several years according to The Ring back then. So what does that say about the fighters below Klitschko back then?
