[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] “After reappearing in my country against a dangerous opponent and I’m looking forward to contesting the WBC middleweight world championship with Sebastian Zbik,” added the Son of the Legend.

That, and the fact GYM president Yvon Michel publicly said there was a case for Zbik to become regular champ if Martinez were to fight somebody else (WBC ordered in Dec a purse bid to go down on Jan 7th, which was scrubbed because of the Martinez-Dzin talks).

Martinez will still be Emeritus Champ, but does that give him an actual belt? Kessler doesn't have any, and he's got the same status.

My only question here is... once the Silver Champ faces the Interim Champ for the Regular belt, can we get rid of those paper titles? As in, Martinez is Emeritus Champ (i.e. can challenge the Regular Champ at anytime and be approved) and the winner of Zbik-Chavez Jr is Regular Champ and only that?

Emeritus and Regular is better than Emeritus, Regular, Interim and Silver. And that's in addition to the International belt...

...but David is just around the corner. :yep

"I haven't directly spoken to Lou DiBella about this," said Michel. "But I believe that [Lemieux's agent] Don Majewski has expressed our interest in fighting Sergio two or three fights from now."

Pathetic. If he does get stripped he should throw his emeritus title in the bin like Riddick Bowe.

So does Pirog. He came out publicly and said negotiations for a unification bout with Martinez failed throughout the year, that Martinez wanted no part of him. Martinez is going after the WBO belt... just not the middleweight one.

Honestly, how many actual MW's do you think Martinez will fight this year?

    Martinez is not ducking anyone.

Dzinduruk is a very tough fight, and hes long overdue some spot in the limelight.
Fighting Williams is always risky and difficult
    Beat Pavlik convincingly

Maybe when Pirog gets a little more attention by beating genuine top fighters, maybe then he should be looking for the big fights. Having Jacobs as your only known win isnt helping him

Who cares, it'll be the WBC's loss not Martinez'.

The way the WBC hands out all kinds of shitty belts, interim belts, silver belts, diamond belts and emeritus belts it's not long before the real champ will be defined by NOT having a worthless green ****.

See my pts in red. He isn't ducking anyone, he's only had 1 fight as defending champ. However, he's been calling out Pac... and other people at 147/154 according to Boo, can't recall what the source was.

Pirog should get more exposure, agreed. But are you saying Dzinziruk is well known fighter in America? :D

If and when Lemieux beats Rubio in an eliminator, beats the winner of Zbik-Chavez Jr for the regular belt, he's gonna challenge Martinez as stated by Yvon Michel... Majewski already contacted Sergio's people to give them a heads-up.

So yeah, if Lemieux is regular champ by the end of the year and calls out Martinez but doesn't get his attention, can I genuinely say Martinez ducked David without getting shat on by his fans?

Yeah, so don't expect Dzin's jab to as razoresque at 160 as it is @ 154. 160 is no comfort zone for him, he was fighting at 152/154 in 1999 and between 151 & 154 in the past 3 years. Pretty consistent. :D

Lets not forget that Martinez was also natural LMW, so calling out other fighters within 154 pound limit should not be crime. But i also understand that being the MW champ does make the champ inherit certain responsibilities.

Dzinduruk is a household name in America, ask anyone... ;)

If the whole Lemieux adventure is a success, then i would expect him and Martinez to fight. Which i hope happens, but i know it will happen sometime in the future so long as both guys stay undefeated.
