He is obsessed with beating Floyd. He had his best chance in Oscar and it has haunted him ever since. There is a lot of acclaim and fame to gain by beating Floyd. Remember that they were going to fight March 13th? This article is dated March 10th.

This is why he was sparring with Steve Forbes in the buildup to to the Clottey fight. Forbe fights nothing like Clottey, he fights like Floyd.

However, when Floyd fought Shane in the manner that he did, it ****ed with Roach's head as Floyd backed up what was thought to be the strongest person in the division. Roach is now reduced to talking about shot legs and hoping that Manny gets in lucky shots like Shane did if they ever fight. Roach watching Floyd bully Shane destoryed all that Roach thought had accomplished in devising a plan for Floyd. He is back at square one again.

If that's your analogy then Floyd should take the fight, not giving another demand that will ruin it.

Nothing weird about this. Pacquiao is not going to get in the ring with Floyd until they are 110% sure that they will beat Floyd. Look at what Roach talks about 24/7. He talks about Floyd more than Floyd talks about Floyd. Freddie Roach is the main reason the fight isn't going to go on. Roach trained Oscar and thought he'd be able to solve the Mayweather puzzle then. He couldn't and it has become the ultimate goal of his career. he obviously feels that that Pacquiao represents the best chance for Floyd to lose but he isn't going to put Manny in the ring with him until he is sure. However, Floyd fighting Shane in the manner that he did screwed with Roach's head and had to start all over.

excellent post! Though i dont think Roach is "obsessed" with beating Floyd I believe Roach sees floyd as the ultimate challenge because Floyd fights a lot like a trainer thinks (if that makes sense)...I believe Roach thinks he sees something he can exploit...he mos def respects floyds game but in the end i think he'll end up like every other trainer...in a war of words with floyd during the build up and than its downhill from their for team pac:good

(thinking about it though, I actually believe Floyd already has team pac out of their game...team pac is already goin back and forth...they should be smart and keep their mouths shut..all thats gonna happen is floyd gonna get into their head and fuk their gameplan all up)

........and there is probably alot of truth to your post.

The worst thing Mayweather could have done top land the Pacquiao fight is to bully Mosley the way he did.

Mosley and Margarito are thought of to be physically the strongest Welters, and Mayweather completely took away what was Roach's gameplan if he thought Mayweather was going to run away from workrate and pressure.

Now Roach has to think about, "what if Mayweather ties my man up, tosses him around with his physical strenghth, thus nullifying his aggression and workrate?"

The Mosley fight showed just how versatile Mayweather is.
In fact Mayweather's last three fights have showed he can fight the other man's fight and dominate.

Who would have thought he could wrestle with Hatton and get the best of it?

Clearly he was quicker, faster and stronger than Marquez, and thus clearly outboxed him.

Workrate and aggression is likely to be the way Pacquiao goes about fighting Mayweather.
The problem is that Pacquiao has no clear advantage vs Pacquiao and that includes punching power.

Clearly Roach has got to be second guessing himself.

Freddy "The Dope Coach" Roach will no more let his cash cow, manny get in the ring with Mayweather than he'll let his other cash cow, Amir Con get in the ring with ANYONE who can punch harder than a girl. End of story.

This is criminally overlooked by most.

I'm so anxious for this fight to happen to see what fight plan Roach sends Pac out with and to see if he picked the right one to deal with Mayweather's fight plan.

I blame roach and arum more than manny
I think manny wants to fight him already..and is listening to his advisors who look out for his "best interest" too much...

Ultimately its not going to matter what gameplan Roach chooses.
Once Pacquioa is getting outboxed, he's going to turn to what comes natural to him, which is it to throw his laser left down the middle........once Pac is reduced to reaching with that left, he's going to be easy fodder for a fighter the caliber and the tools of Mayweather.

......the end will have Roach and every ******* in this forum signing, "Pac did'nt follow the gameplan."
......as if following a gameplan against Mayweather is something that should come naturally.

I agree. I think Pacquiao would fight whoever, but Arum doesn't want it especially. Roach would like a chance to beat Mayweather I think, but I don't think he is too confident about Pacman's chances. I still think Roach wants Pacquiao to cash out on the fight for his last one.
