So Ortiz.publicly declines to fight Joshua for 6 million and the apologetics say:

I saw an ifl interview with Eddie Hearn where he said he'd contacted Ortiz' management and they'd indicated it wasn't enough time.

However he was talking he fight up, so my guess is that after the b sample is tested that this may be the fight we get.

 

I hope Ortiz takes the fight, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Hearn says his team don't think 6 weeks is long enough and Ortiz himself said he would need to see what his team thinks which is a cop out. If he really wants the fight he should demand his team make the fight.

Ortiz has twice been in a position to fight Joshua. First time instead of sitting on his mandatory, fought Wilder instead and allowed Povetkin to take his mandatory shot. Ortiz said he would sue Joshua if he didn't get his shot, but when it came down to it, he didn't follow through. Now he's been offered the fight again at a time when he has no better options and he again looks like he doesn't want it.

Ortiz spent most of his prime refusing to step up, ducking fights with Ustinov twice, so nobody should be surprised if Ortiz passes up this opportunity. He simply has never had the drive or desire to fight the best, he's happy to keep taking easy fights for easy paydays.

 

Haymon isn't allowing Ortiz to take the fight. Ortiz would fight him on 4 weeks notice.

Either I've completely forgotten your explanation or I simply disagree with it. I know Ortiz refused the fight due to Ustinov not agreeing to VADA testing but come on Ortiz has failed not once but twice, so him declining a fight due to lack of testing is ludicrous. To me that's an excuse to decline the fight.

Now if there was another reason, then you'll have to remind me and if it's valid, I'll retract my previous statement and edit my post to correct that.
