    interesting enough
all super six fights were on his home turf
    and yes won the tournment
    but guess what
almost everyone won on their home turf in that tournament
who is to say what would have happened if he had to go to germany etc

he wasnt the star coming in but yet everyone had to fight on his playground...and the networks were totally for this???
    why

    now with dawson,
a 6'2 dawson has to come to his weight,
and again fight on his home turf

and this is seen as totally normal

**** thread. Oakland is a very good place to fight with lots of money in it. No biased refs/judges, what's the problem?

He's Sven Wardkke. The most boring fighter of the last 40 years.

Help me understand, what impact did the fight being in Oakland have on the fight itself...I'll wait.

Only Kessler was cheated... Ward was under pressure and had to use his head to win the fight...

What's considered Ward's home turf? He fought Froch in A.C and Abraham in L.A. As far as the Dawson fight, Dawson volunteered to fight him at 168. Dawson has no fanbase, so it wouldn't have made much sense to have the fight outside of Oakland.

I think he should have atleast fought Kessler at Kessler's hometown since at the time he was number 1 in the division and the biggest name. Froch fight had to happen in the USA and the Abraham fight could have happened else where but by that stage Ward was number 1 in the division.

The fights wouldn't have changed, regardless where they happened. But it still unfair that every other fighter fought home an away in their opponents back yard.

He may not have fought in Oakland, but he is American and was fighting in the US against foreign guys...that's home turf to me

Atlantic City and Los Angeles are not his hometowns. Hell, Abraham had more supporters in LA than Ward did. Plus, neither is on the same level as Germany when it comes to decisions, or Montreal when it comes referees.

Dawson isn't as big of a draw as Ward, so it made sense for this fight to be in Oakland. Watching on TV, the crowd looked pretty solid.
