**** Roy Jones Jr. The guy was always an arrogant ass. Now he is a joke. A one trick pony who has lost his trick. Legend? Not even good.
Roy clearly took Australia and green with complaceny and contempt. Green was dead serious in his approach. The first round was a warm up round in Roys eyes and he got caught offguard. The knockdown was a case of the champ being a little too easy on the underdog who was being very focused and roy got caught out. Roy wasn't finished after that shot either, his balance and defense was tight as ****. The ref didn't let the veteren sort out the **** storm ahead of him. Ofcourse the decision is fine the eyes of medical professionals and conservative fans of the sport. But when you've seen what Roys been through in the past, that onslaught was only affective asthetically. Roy wasn't done after that shot.
When watching it for the first time, I was thinking the same thing when Green jumped on him after the initial knockdown.....he could be ok, just weathering the storm. However as soon as the referee broke up the clinch to give Roy some breathing space, Roy's legs were not there as he was walking back. Forward to 2:15 in the following vid, and you'll see what I'm talking about: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svRPC9BWLxE]YouTube - Superboxing, Danny Green vs Roy Jones Jr - full fight[/ame]
The ref pushed him back after the clinch and he was all over the place, I had money on Roy, but he didn't throw a punch after he was knocked down. The ref gave him heaps of time to show something, but it was one way traffic. I'd prefer that than him leaving on his back.
Laughing at those commentators. Jones of 6-7 years ago would have torn Green a new ******* without breaking a sweat. "You beat a legend you become a legend". Yeah, okay.
Look, he's done. My all time favorite fighter, but he's done. He would've got tagged again and again. Now I'm glad it wasn't worse.
"When You beat a LEGEND, You become a LEGEND" THX for the vid, "Shot" or not that was a good punch. (Jones leg's were gone) Let Green & AUS celebrate. (Gonna watch this again)
exactly lucky ass shot, danny green aint **** he can punch but roy wouldve won a shut out UD if he wouldnt drop his hands like that
He's been dropping his hands like that his whole career, he can't see punches and react like he used too. He only knows how to fight one way, that's with reflexes, and they're gone. I'm sure Green would've landed the same "lucky ass shot" 10 times in the fight, if not more, because Roy is done.
