I had a few friends who always said that Roy Jones Jr. is a KO waiting to happen.

In 2004, I was very humble to admit the accuracy of their prediction.

I only added that Roy Jones Jr. made a HOF career in the waiting period.

Did anybody ever think Floyd was a knockout waiting to happen???

This is a serious question though....i've felt that way about Miguel...I feel Margarito is a knockout waiting to happen somebody just has to tap the right spot quick enough...the only time i honestly thought Floyd would get knocked out is when he fought Corrales and when he beat Chico and they were both undefeated without really being touched...not even Delahoya could convince me.

    AND!!!

If he does come back and get slept does it take away from his accomplishments???

I've never thought Floyd was a knockout waiting to happen. He's proven time and time again that he can take a punch and keep going. One of the best chins in the sport. As another Decebal said also, Hopkins definitely has a chin.

If Floyd gets knocked out now, it will only be because he is past his prime. Remember he is not longer in his 20's and heading into his mid thirties.

With Roy Jones, there was a difference. Prior to 2004, he wasn't easy to hit and rarely got hit with full force. Gamboa, on the other hand, gets touched too often and hasn't reacted too great to punches, especially considering the boxers weren't punchers. What does this mean? It is a knockout waiting to happen if he doesn't fix these defensive flaws, and fix them quickly, before he steps up further in competition.

Calzaghe is definitely a KO waiting to happen, especially now that he's lost speed and agility: squares up directly in front of his opponent, arms wide. And I've Always thought Cotto was a KO waiting to happen.

    Hopkins, Calzaghe even Marciano.

If the right shot lands at the right time with enough mustard on it, they're gone !

    No-one is unknockoutable !

So, the thread-starter says, it's what a guy does in the meantime that counts.

That's why Roy is a legend, an ATG and a HOFer.

Willie Pep got ktfo. Angelo Dundee said he was the best boxer he's ever seen. It's a head, plus a gloved fist, plus a brain moving inside the head. It ain't rocket science. Hit it in the right place, at the right velocity, with the right amount of power, and you've got a KO.
