but do you ever think that maybe Hatton made him look like that? it's annoying how almost everytime someone loses, they suspect that they had an "off night" or they're shot. Other examples would be.. Lacy vs Calzaghe - Lacy didn't have an off night, Calzaghe made him look bad. Adamek vs Dawson - Adamek didn't have an off night either, Dawson made him look bad. Toney vs Jones - Same thing as the above. I'm seriously wondering if anyone ever opens their eyes and considers things like this because it doesn't seem like they do. You can't expect them to look like gold everytime out. you couldn't expect Lacy to look as good as he did against Reid. you couldn't expect Adamek to look as good as he did against Ulrich. you couldn't expect Toney to look as good as he did against Barkley. styles, styles..styles. :deal
A pretty respectably by most Manny Steward said it 10 seconds into the opening frame, and quite repetitiously after that.
I still don't think he was much different from the Corrales fights. The difference here was that he wasn't in with a guy who was going to stand in range and not defend himself. He was fighting a pitbull.
no the last guy expose him as shot fighter the african guy that barely beat bailey. Castillo for me was more shot than koztya. The last to guys that Hatton fought were at prime levels an had trouble with them.
Castillo was pretty much shot AND on top of that a brilliant Hatton made him look bad! Last night's Hatton would have probably beaten any version of Castillo, though!
Hatton caught him with a great liver shot. Castillo is not shot, it's just the Haters loving to rag on JLC. This also takes away from Hatton's win, which was legit.
Castillo is way, way shot. Hell, everyone there saw it, and many of us predicted the fight would be more one-sided than it was. But credit to Ricky, who clearly was in top form and did what he had to do. It's just a shame that he couldn't fight a better version of Castillo, because I think he'd have won anyway.
The Castillo is shot comments started before this fighter ever began. Castillo wouldn't been hit with that shot 4yrs ago, watch the fight again, watch how Castillo got completely out of position. Castillo was slow, his legs looked terrible, and his footwork was horrible. Props to Ricky for doing what he should do with a guy like that in front of him, but don't go acting like Castillo is the Castillo from 3yrs ago.
I agree with you (and Steward) about Castillo's legs. That's where he's lost it most. His balance and flexibility are completely gone, and his handspeed -- never great to begin with -- also has fallen off. You could tell he was just trying to load up and land the one punch. He has lost the ability to fight hard for rounds.
