Two ageing very well worn fighters performing like that is unbelievable Two extraordinary one off heavyweights true originals who have set a mark on this division Amazing Can't wait to watch the replay. The level of boxing was crazy for big men. All the small details just totally off the scale. Its a shame Fury couldn't hold the pace and got complacent but christ almighty what a phenom. The movement which we haven't seen for over 6 years came back. Amazing Amazing. They are both so far ahead skill and mentality wise of their peers its laughable.
Usyk earnt my respect last night all joking aside following on from my thread yesterday in the lead up.
Agree, as much as I wanted Usyk to win I didn't want Fury to lose. I feel for Fury because the fans appear to have gone cold on him, partly of his own making but I don't think he's a bad lad when all is said & done. I hope he finds peace in himself because I fear this loss may see him sink in to deep depression again. I would like to see both fighters retire, AJ would now be favourite against both of them, you always leave something in the ring with these kind of fights.
Agreed both fighters did themselves proud, they put on a show for the ages. It had skill drama and grit. Everything you could want from a fight of this magnitude. It delivered. And I must say the scene in Riyadh was brilliant. For those who say that the Saudis boxing atmosphere can't compare to Vegas, I would have to disagree. I thought it was a well put together show and way more enjoyable than any of the recent Vegas events I've seen.
Was a great fight but Fury doesn't get any respect from me due to his conduct. He is an embarrassment who thinks calling his opponents names and insulting them is acceptable!! NO so called Christian can be respected by being so vulgar towards their fellow human beings. Whereas Uysk displays ALL the values of a fighting man.....Oleksandr has my upmost respect
I think the consensus is if Fury has any chance in the rematch he needs to bulk up and attempt to "steam roll" Usyk (as one pundit put it). Of course, the problem with that then becomes one of his stamina and conditioning and ability to maintain a decent tempo if he's 10-15-20+ pounds heavier. In the past, yes, he could...but is he still the same man? Remember, he was 26 when he fought Klitschko - and you can do a lot of stuff at 26 you can't do at 35. Plus, would an even more cumbersome Fury be even better for Usyk?
Yes Belly was the nickname Uysk gave the big disrespectful fool in return for all the insults about being ugly, rabbit eyes etc etc.....so gets a free pass!! People who preach to be a Christian should display those values. Taking part in a bloodsport does NOT give him any free pass to behave and say the stuff he does. Imagine being beat up by a middleweight...lol
It was a great fight but Fury doesn’t command respect for talking as much crap as he did, show boating and then staggering around the ring like a clown because his punch resistance is gone. No chance he can go 12 rounds with Joshua now. All my credit and respect goes to Usyk.
You must really dislike a lot of fighters then. Muhamed Ali being one of them. I wouldn’t bother getting too invested in pre fight taunts or games. Last night was a great fight between two great fighters. Bring on the rematch
Difference between dislike and respect. Totally agree that last night's fight was a good one....personally hope there is no rematch and Uysk retires....but can he resist another fight for 50 million plus??
Great fight. A real battle. I really enjoyed the fight, respect to both fighters. A true PPV. Well worth the PPV fee.
I can respect that Fury found a way to get into his best possible shape for the first time since Wlad - with the possible exception of Wilder 2. (Such a mismatch that the difference between 95% and 100% probably wouldn't show much, if at all). I can respect Fury for not fouling as much as he often does (but that's not to say he fought completely clean). But. I can't respect the Ukraine comments. I can't respect the nonsense about thinking he didn't need a KO to win in the 12th... That was obvious unless he thoroughly believed they'd rob Usyk come what may. I can't respect him believing he could've KO'd Usyk in the 12th or any other specific round of his choosing - besides being plain disrespectful, it's just obviously not correct. So as usual, a mixed bag from Fury... The better man (as well as the better fighter) won - and that's good for boxing.
