After a career filled with great fights, wars and great opposition, it all has finally caught up to one of the greatest Mexican fighters of the last 20 years. Jose Luis Castillo is a shoe-in to the Hall of fame and this thread is for everyone to show a great fighter some love. Accomplishments: Record:56-9-1 (48 ko's) 2 time WBC Lightweight champion, and also Ring Magazine Lightweight Champion Participant in the 2005 Fight of the Year Champions defeated(6): Cesar Bazan, Jorge Paez, Stevie Johnston, Julio Diaz, Diego Corrales, Joel Casamayor Castillo first caught my attention in the two fights he had with Stevie Johnston, on of my favorite fighters. People billed him as just another tough Mexican fighter but it takes skill to defeat a slick southpaw like Lil But Bad. Castillo became one of my favorites when he almost defeated my favorite fighter and arguably the best fighter of his generation in Floyd Mayweather. This content is protected . Which would have been fair, Castillo would have kept his title and Mayweather would have kept his undefeated record. After the Mayweather fights he cleaned out lightweight and had his This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected :happy :happy This content is protected
Props to one of my favorite boxers of all time and the best pressure fighter of his era. I picked him to win last night when I knew better just out of respect for him. He has given us so many great moments in the ring and a true credit to this sport and hopefully one day will be in the HOF. You'll be missed champ but never forgotten.:happy :bbb
I hear ya....that fight shocked the **** out of me. Castillo is underrated as far as the skill department. He had the skills to hang with or beat the best boxers at lightweight. Johnston, Mayweather, Casamayor, and Julio Diaz all of whom won the true title or a major belt. I personally think if he got the nod or a draw it would have been pretty fair. The second half of the fight he was in control with his strength and body punching and combinations.
Man this is a sad day in boxing I watched the fight yesterday and I didnt want a bad memory of Castillo so I changed the chanel. Good luck to Castillo hes a truewarrior in my book and so is Corrales, these two gave us there all in what imo are two classic fights. Thank You Mr Castillo I arriva Sonora MX!
