I could seriously care less about his eye, i was there live and wanted the fight to go on. The guy's vision was completely done from that eye and if he could not stop miguel from landing 50% of his shots with both eyes open what do you really think would have happened. In round 9, his supposed best round, he was out gunned against the ropes during the toe to toe exchange and Miguel took his punches well, mind you his eye was bleeding since round 3. They kept letting him fight but he kept on getting out-landed. The truth is the Dr. saved margarito's ass not Cotto's but yours and everyone else's pride wont let ya'll accept it

That was one instance where he was on the ropes and Margo was still not wobbled. I can assure you that Cotto wouldn't have stopped him.

  4. Yeah but Cotto was the one kicking his ass, not the Dr. or the NYSAC.

Thanks for stating the obvious. So what's your point? The doctor shouldn't have stopped it, that's my point.

No you cant...you can speculate but you cant assure anything just like margarito mounting a magical comeback attack is also speculation, a ridiculous one at that.

Pac hit him way more often and packs a harder punch. He had him in trouble at the end and still wasn't able to finish. So no Cotto running around wouldn't be able to finish him.

Also I never said a comeback was definately going to happen, but it had a possibility of happening.

i for one wouldve loved for the dr to let the fight go on, just like cotto's trainer he said that the fight couldve gone on but the outcome wouldve been the same.. hopefully margarito keeps on fighting and we'll see him like a vegetable in the near future

    :hat

It could have been the same as in a victory for Cotto, but only by decision.

Margo is a tough mofo, so don't get your hopes up.:deal

But as a Margo hater what do you care if his eye or health was on the line?

Funny, but I think that the majority of Cotto fans on site wouldn't have had an issue with the fight continuing....If only to watch Miguel continue to go about the task of re-arranging Margo's face. That's the impression I've gotten from most of the posts.

That being said, the eye was completely closed, and Margo was planning to grow another one, he was essentially going to be fighting half blind against someone who had no issue with the idea of exacerbating the injury. I've seen fights stopped in similar situations, in cases where the losing fighter has been a lot more competitive than Margo was against Cotto last Saturday.

So, while a lot of Cotto fans didn't necessarily welcome the stoppage any more than Margo fans, they probably felt it was justifiable, given the circumstances.
