What other heavyweight champ in the last 20 years has actually been turned down or put off by the other top guys like Wlad's been?

I've seen guys with belts avoid challengers ala Bowe-Lewis, but avoid a title shot vs the man in the division? That really doesn't happen much in heavyweight boxing.

I think this is true to a degree, guys think they have a better shot with Haye due to the size .Ive also heard though that the brothers make some unfair demands in the fight contracts. At the end of the day its a business ,and if you think the contract is a negative financially why would you sign it.

I remember 3-4 years ago there were fighters calling Wlad out and saying how they can't wait to fight him. Last couple of months what contenders have been calling out Wlad? The only headlines you read now are contenders explaining *WHY THEY WON'T FIGHT WLAD*

It's a sorry state of affairs, Wlad has done a good job but in the end it works to his disadvantage with noone willing to step up to fight him.

    Agreed.

I seriously can't believe how moist some people on this forum get about Wladimir Klitschko.

Nothing strange about that, it has been this way since the split of the titles. People want to take a shot at the weakest beltholder, the one with the most flaws, the least experienced, the most beatable one. Haye did it himself also, and it didn't matter to him that the WBA belt is the least prestigious at the moment, Herbie Hide didn't care if it was only the WBO belt when Michael Bentt got it... easy pickings... if you can take hold of a belt and call yourself WORLD CHAMPION then go for it.
It's just the way it is on the moment, until (if ever) the belts are unified in a division the problem persists.

You're right, it was a bad comparison- nobody ducked Tyson once he was champion.

People call it crazy. If it's that crazy, surely it'd be easy to come up with an answer to my question. So, here it is, ready to be debunked:

    1) What other heavyweight champ in the last 30 years has actually been ducked by the other top guys as often as Wlad's been? I'll be generous, and make it an even 30 years instead of the 20 I previously quoted so Holmes' and Tyson's reign can be included.

All you, or anyone else who thinks it's a crazy comparison, has to do is name a heavyweight champ who's been ducked by more than 3 other titlists or top contenders. Povetkin, Haye, and Valuev have all blatantly ducked Wlad since Wlad became champion.

Just give me the heavyweight champ, and 4 top names that ducked title shots with him, and I'll admit that I've been bested and my claim of Wlad being the most feared champion since prime Tyson is full of ****.

Lewis springs to mind, Bowe ducked him, Holyfield ducked him until he had no choice but to fight, Tyson ducked him until he had no choice, and WALDO and VITLAY both ducked him too until they (mistakenly) thought he was getting too old to beat them up. Byrd, Ruiz and Jones all ducked him too.

Saying fighters keep ducking him is one thing, excusing WALDO's **** poor competition is something else. I'm sure Haye will fight WALDO when he thinks WALDO is starting to slip, he'll probably fight VITLAY first as he's older....doesn't excuse him from ducking the better versions any more than Tyson or Holy have excuses for ducking prime Lewis for so long.
