Brodnicką might have nicked round 8, as she covered up with her arms folded parallel across her braids and gored her way through a tiring Matthysse's endlessly pumped out straight combos, and landed some glancing hooks during exchanges on the inside.

Brodnicką stepping in with a 1-2 and hot-footing away behind a light jab as she fakes Matthysse out with her constant to-and-fro darting, exploiting Matthysse having wearied in her lower extremities. Brodnicką now doing all the work in the clinches she is still initiating, holding & hitting. First clear round all night for the incumbent champion.

The crowd is chanting "Eva!" to rally behind her, but the most she can muster is a few light jabs while putting as much canvas as possible between herself and the determined challenger, who is jabbing with the left and windmilling downward in axing motions with the right to close the gap.
