Ewą Brodnicką vs. Edith Soledad Matthysse & Robert Marek Parzęczewski vs. Patrick Mendy RBR

Robert Marek Parzęczewski vs. Patrick Mendy, 10 rounds @ super middleweight

 

This will be the fourth time Mendy has fought in Poland. He is 1-2, and split 1-1 versus actual Poles. (his most recent loss here was to Kazakh wunderkind Ali Bagodinoviç Akhmedov)

 

I hate that more people didn't see the women's fight; that may just have been the worst decision of the year.

Matthysse at worst only lost a couple of late rounds, due to being so fatigued from beating the **** out of Brodnicką for the first several.

 

I kinda dig this Polish cock-rock/metal that Parzęczewski has chosen to walk out to.

 

Gambia's anthem is up first.

 

Round 1

Parzęczewski starts out galloping in sidelong, jabbing into Mendy's right cheek and then whipping an uppercut into his left torso. Mendy steps in to counter in time with Parzęczewski while slipping his punches with head movement. Parzęczewski tries a few lead rights up top but Mendy is able to swerve beside & beneath them. Whenever they come together, Mendy winds up in a headlock as he ducks under Parzęczewski's errant high shots. The ref warns both for roughhousing on the inside, Mendy for billygoating and Parzęczewski for rabbit-punching. They both do some dirty boxing up close, Mendy hugging and spanking Parzęczewski across the kidneys with a loosely held right fist, and Parzęczewski holding Mendy by the neck with his left glove and uppercutting him with the right after pulling him down. They jab together, and then apart. Evenly matched when things settle down to an easygoing pace at mid-range.

Round 2

Parzęczewski drops low and tries bracing up against Mendy while targeting his body. Mendy instead pulls the rug out from under him and blasts him in the face with a series of parting uppercuts. Mendy staying offline from the Parzęczewski jab, tiptoeing almost into range and then scurrying out at the last second to make Parzęczewski lunge & miss. Nice slick movement from Mendy, falling into clinches with clattering body shots combos on Parzęczewski's sides. Parzęczewski being made to look foolish, jumping in with shots and getting turned & countered neatly. Really pretty boxing from Mendy here. Parzęczewski misses a jab but does graze with an explosive cross jumping up from a crouch with about 15 seconds left. Otherwise, the round peters out with a light sparring pace.

Ohh, right, I've been meaning to mention since firing up the RBR thread but keep forgetting...

They have a comment opponent: Dmitrii Chudinov. Mendy drew with a prime unbeaten Night Wolf in 2013, and Parzęczewski stopped the shot version this past April.

 

Round 3

Parzęczewski starts to really make a brawl of it, clubbing with rabbit punches after folding Mendy in half with left stiff-arms to his diaphragm, and launching himself bodily at him with baseball-bat right hands to slam him into the ropes, uncaring whether he lands on a legal scoring area or just across the biceps or backside. Mendy getting spun around in his attempts to stay a step ahead of Parzęczewski, and knifing through Parzęczewski's guard with the odd counter jab or uppercut, but largely getting roughed up and seeing his nice boxing spoiled.

Round 4

Parzęczewski unloading on Mendy, not letting him get squared up comfortably for even a second. Mendy down - I missed it, not sure if that was a shove or punch, will have to check the replay (edit: was a clear shove, palm on Mendy's sternum, off a hyper-extended jab). The ref seems to not be giving him a count, so guessing the former. Parzęczewski making it not the sort of match that Mendy would prefer, that's for sure. Parzęczewski jabs into dead space for a diversion and then loops a big right into Mendy's left ear, nicking him despite Mendy's attempt to fall aside to slip it. Parzęczewski banging away from outside with right-handed artillery behind the set-up intentionally-missed jab.
