Horrigain made full use off his hight advantage as he pounded the stocky mc Donald in to an eight count early in the third round the referee intervineing seconds later with mcdonald on the ropes.The bury contingent met with success, however with there midleweight Jimmy wilson notched a points victory over arthur stanley (Wavertree) in a hard hiting none stop battle, while the trophy for the best winner of the night went to Wavetrees Alan Worthington for his points defeat of Tommy frost(Lee Jones) who got the best loser reward.
I used to know Billy Aird - he ran a pub round my way - big fella - big scouser from that era. I'm from London though, and he lived down here in the 80s.
