Eddie Thomas managed Ken Buchanen before he moved on and managed the young fighter from the shed behind my garden !!!! What next?????????????????? Colin Jones to make a comeback !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb
oh oh ! ! ! Flint, ya gonna start ya Colin Jones V's ( every current fighter ) threads ? I see them over yonder......:nut
I agree that the novelty will wear off after his first bout back to the prize ring, unless, as I said before, it was against someone either decent or against a faded ex legend like himself. If he's going to make it count, he's got to pull the rabbit out of his ass now or never.
Good points made. Buchanan should do what Michael Moorer is doing with Freddy Roach and serve some type of apprenticeship training fighters. Doing that coupled with his experience as a hall of fame fighter would make him a great fit for training fighters and make alot more sense than boxing again.
:good Amen.. Nothing more than a freak / side show & would do a much harm to the reputation of the sport as it would to Ken health....though the latter is more important and not negotiable. I prefer to remember Roberto & ken as they were. Maybe a film could be made of his life or a made for TV film done..
HE'S NOT RETURNING TO PROFFESSIONAL BOXING He is makiing his debut in White Collar Boxing. different sports almost he will only be boxing men with no skill and ability who are only into it because they think boxings glamorous
We recently had Jeff Fenech (44) & Azumah Nelson (50) dance around together for 10 rounds. But at 63 years old - Oh Ken: sad, very sad!
BUCHANAN WANTS COMEBACK AT 63 This content is protected Legendary former lightweight world champion Ken Buchanan has confirmed he hopes to return to the ring at the age of 63 despite admitting it is a "stupid" idea. The Scot turns 64 next month but revealed he needs to start fighting again, reportedly to raise funds for a legal dispute. However, Buchanan would have no hope of gaining a British Boxing Board of Control licence and is keen to get involved in 'white-collar boxing' - an unlicensed semi-professional version of the sport. "I would be the oldest professional world champion ever to make a comeback," the Edinburgh great told Five Live Sport. "It wouldn't be a legal fight, it would be white-collar boxing. I've got to do it, it's the only way to make money. "A lot of people will say I can't get a licence but I don't want a licence. "I'd just go to the white-collar boxing people, who I was talking to. They really wanted to hold it in Scotland but I want to go down south. It's all just talk at the moment but I won't be afraid to go through with it." Buchanan, who was undisputed lightweight world champion until a controversial defeat by the great Roberto Duran in 1972, admits a comeback is not a good idea but vowed to go through with it anyway. "I've got a broken back and shouldn't even be in a gym because I'm on pain killers for the rest of my life," he said. "The only way you can make that money is to make a comeback. I can't work, I could never get employed anywhere. "I know it's stupid but it will work out okay. I'm in good nick, it's difficult to give it up."
