exactly why was Berto clinching/holding?

Urango is built like a truck and extremely strong for the full 12 rounds. Berto did the right thing. Urango's handspeed is far from slow as hell.

Angulo, now that is slow as hell.

 

He didn't need to; just Hatton laid out that gameplan of beating Urango, so he followed it. He could have outboxed him, although it would have been a more dangerous way of going about it. It's not like Berto has a great chin, and I'm still not convinced that he was the harder puncher in the ring last night.

 

It's hard to do that for 12 rounds, plus you don't want Urango to get into a rhythm.

 

Why did Berto grab and hold Urango for dear life 78,000 times the way he did, and has, against Collazo and others? For one, his heart pumps Kool-Aid. Besides that he was absolutely no ****ing clue what he's doing on the inside, so he starts to panic - which leads us back to the thickness of his spine, and the depth of his ability.

jeez urango hardly jabs! i think his whole plan in the fight is to land that shot. i think it was a good idea for berto to tie up.

 

I don't think it's because he doesn't know how to fight on the inside, I think it's because he has a shaky chin, and he can't see punches coming at him to avoid them when he's on the inside, so he just ties up the guy's arms. He didn't really start doing this until he got KDed against Rivera while he was smashing Rivera on the inside up against the ropes.

Urango is built like a truck. He's gone the distance plenty of times. And his straight punches are garbage, but his hooks get there, especially in combination.

I don't care what the official weights were, for the first five rounds Berto was not the "stronger" man in the ring. Urango is a supernatural 140 pounder, was it that shocking he was basically a full welterweight last night?

 

He simply used his head . . . Urango is no push over dude. Urango is more than capable of knocking Berto out at any given time dsuring that fight. :deal

 

He stunned Berto several times during the fight on body shots as well, or at least made Berto take notice. He doesn't just look like he throws hard. That wide ass back of his generates a ton of torque when he throws his wild shots.

Next for Urango - Randall Bailey. That will be a fun one. Bailey has a sketchy chin also, and power is more of his calling card than boxing.

 

The shaky chin part goes without saying, Brickhaus, but if you think it isn't because he clearly does not know what he's doing inside and trying to compensate, you haven't been watching closely enough. Berto looked like a suffocating fish out of water at close quarters in the Collazo fight. He was utterly and epicly ****ing helpless.

Watch his older fights. He did just fine fighting on the inside, just he got caught a lot. Now, rather than risking it, he just clinches.
