Orlin Norris outboxed a couple of taller guys including, Tucker, Snipes, Page and Fergusson. But for sure not the biggest punchers.

 

I think Moore was still a middleweight when that happened

He was 161lbs vs 155lbs for Burley. So, yeah, not much between them, about 1 modern weight division. Moore naturally clearly the bigger of the 2.

 

I don't believe in Jr and super middles and welters etc. They should go back to 8 weight classes, same day weigh ins and 1 champion per weight class.

Clearly is right, Moore was popping through his skin at middleweight. Belonged up stairs and even there he had trouble.

 

Joe was more than "a bit" faded. He was beaten to the punch all night. That almost never happened in his prime. I can think only of Billy Conn.

 

Ivan Calderon vs Hugo Cazares 1. Calderon was moving up from strawweight to light flyweight when he fought Cazares. Cazares was rumored to have weighed 131 lbs in the ring. Calderon outboxed him throughout with some shaky moments when he got dropped.

 

Meldrick Taylor moving up to 147 and beating Aaron Davis is another example. Davis was 32-0 (20 KOs) who stopped Mark Breland when he fought Taylor.

 

Moving it down the ladder a bit since most of the best or better examples are already out there - Walkers draw with Sharkey might be a 2nd or 3rd tier example?

Though I guess the main takeaway from that fight might be how “off” a night the temperamental Boston Gob was capable of having.
