Sung-kil Moon moved down from Bantam to Junior Bantam and had a relatively long reign there. He was world champ at both weights.

choklab......the light heavyweight division was recognized as such way before 1960. i don't know exactly when....i guess it depends on who did the recognizing....but bob fitzsimmons was recognized as the light heavyweight champion way back in his day. in the 1940s it had some of the greatest fighters ever....all at one time.

Anthony Mundine is a good modern shout out. I believe he went from 168 to 160 all the way down to 154?

I don't know what that means.

There's a good sparring video on Youtube of Mike Tyson sparring Ken Lakusta in Tokyo. What's nice is in the comments section there are some posts by Lakusta's daughter. She just recalls what a great time she had as a kid when her family got to go to Japan while her dad worked as Tyson's sparring partner before the Tubbs fight.

It would be cool to hear more stories like that.

Don't mean to hijack the thread. Carry on.

There are videos of Muhammad Ali losing in sparring daily. Is he overrated, too? What a ridiculous statement. You determine who is overrated based on sparring footage? Brilliant.

Many people forget this. Thomas Hearns won the light heavyweight title against Andries in March, 1987.. then he moved back down to middleweight and beat Roldanfor that title in October of 1987.. Hearns over did the moving around and I think it hurt him. In March 1986 he knocks out Shuler at middleweight.. Then in June 1986 he fights Medal to defend his 154 pound title.. Just 9 months later he is fighting Andries at 175. Between Andries and Medal he fought Dewitt at 160 in October.. He moved up and down too much in those years.. Way too much.
