Put some bricks in my hand and I could slow down floyd mayweather. Margo's performance deserves absolutely 0 praise.

I made clear that subsequent events overshadowed what was a great fight.
Or were you so attuned to what was happening that you thought it was a **** fight?

I got to disagree. You can't get on your bike after just 8 rounds.
The changes to this site sucks big time. This commit was made using the quote button from IB's commit about De La Hoya getting on his bike after 8 rounds against Trinidad.
Unless there are legal issues there is no reason to remove the features this fourm has had.

Yeah, I have to agree with you about the changes. The ability to interact is what make this forum interesting. It created a lot bull**** but you gotta take the bitter with the sweet. Bring it back!:bbb

    QUOTE: Duran vs. Barkley

    Good call.

Ring intelligence combined with great skills and incredible toughness.

Barkley was so much bigger and athletically so superior to Duran it was ridiculous..

David Haye, being "smart" enough to avoid Valuev for the entire fight, and instead rely on the corrupt judges for a decision.

    A few of my favorites:

    1) Julian Jackson over Bomber Graham: Julius was practically blind (two detached retinas?) and couldn't see the punches coming as Graham ripped off combos and boxed beautifully. Jackson couldn't track Graham down and couldn't see the target -- so he make the target come to him. Julius set up in a corner where Graham had no choice but to be right in front of him ... and bombs away, Graham is left twitching on the canvas. Couldn't happen without Julian's power, but incredible intelligence to set up a guy he couldn't have hit with a handful of salt in the middle of the ring.

    2) Larry Holmes-Ray Mercer: As an older man facing an absolute tank, Larry knew he didn't have the legs or quickness to keep Mercer off him round after round trying to keep it in the middle of the ring, and with Ray's chin he could wade in through anything Holmes threw. So Larry (like Jackson, but in a different manner) sets up in the corner and counters Mercer time and again with clean shots in a masterful performance. Guile over strength and youth.

    3) Holy-Bowe II: Evander fought like a warrior the first time and as iron-willed as he was he couldn't overcome Bowe. Next time around he boxes Bowe, keeps his distance and puts on a clinic. Incredible performance.

    4) Foreman-Moorer: Big George (this comes from his book) had a strong belief that every time a fighter has his head snapped back from a jab, it sends a jolt down his central nervous system, and that repeatedly doing this over a number of rounds breaks down an opponent until he has shocked that system enough to knock the guy out. George did a fantastic job of that old boxing adage of 'touch him first, get him used to getting his, THEN bring the power.' He lulled Moorer to sleep while breaking him down with that jab until that perfect opportunity presented itself, then ended it with an 18-punch that put 36 stitches in the inside of Moorer's mouth. George knew he couldn't win a decision, but he didn't just go bombs away -- he used his savvy to give himself the opportunity to make history.

No one has mentioned Rios vs. Alvarado II!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was the most recent show of IQ over "skill". I picked/favored Rios in the first one but i knew Alvarado would win the rematch.
Instead of brawling and trying to do what Abril did(shoulder roll for th most part), Alvarado instead used his own style of boxing. He kept his hands high and at the right times he brawled. Alvarado almost had a perfect gameplan that night. He was nothing like the guy who fought in the first fight.

:bbb Mike Alvarado does not get the credit that he deserves.

    Mosley-Margarito

Not many gave the aging warhorse Mosley a chance. Sure, it took an endless barrage of bomb after bomb to get Margarito outta there, but Richardson laid out the perfect plan to have Mosley neutralize Margos offense by clinching. Whether Margo had the plaster on him or not, he was a beaten man.

    Delajoya-Trinidad

Oscar sticking and moving leaving Trinidad baffled was turning pretty one sided for the first 9 rounds. Last 3 Tito chasing Oscar, but Oscar built a huge enough lead only to get robbed.

    Delajoya-Mosley II

Learning from his mistake the first time, Oscar knew Mosley was the better infighter and with the new use of his right hand Oscar had a new weapon. Mosley seemed lost and even complained to his corner he can't deal with Oscar's jab/hook. He got back into the fight looking strong the last 3 rounds, but not before getting outboxed most of the fight.
