IMO many fight fans throw around the term "glass-chinned" excessively and too dismissively. Curious whether any of you can think of examples where some of the fighters who most often get called out in this manner actually demonstrated the ability to survive big, flush punches. Guys like Lennox, Wlad, Deontay Wilder, Patterson, etc.

Amir Khan surprised me by how he was able to stand up to Marcos Maidana big shots though he was badly rocked several times. In fact it looked like it was Maidana, who was considered far more resilient, that was going to be stopped in the 1st round though that was admittedly by a body shot rather than a punch to the chin.

Oleg Maskaev vs Hasim Rahman, 1 and 2. Oleg was always a chinny fighter, he was KO'd as amateur, he was KO'd in early rounds few times and suffered some brutal KO defeats. However, Rahman couldn't even knock him down in 20 total rounds of their fights.

Just take a look at powerful straight right that Hasim landed on Maskaev's chin in round 1. At 3:35 on this video, and then from the different angle. Maskaev had Rahman's number, and his glass chin had too:

Roy Jones vs toney, Ruiz and Tarver(1)
Toney landed his right occasionally, including a wicked haymaker when roy tried to run around him and toney just swung and hit him.
Ruiz landed some bombs in the first round when they exchanged

Jacobs against Golovkin isn't a bad example in terms of recent times.

I think most top fighters have decent chins. If you fight the best punchers in the world over & over again, ur gonna get hurt a few times.
Hearns vs leonard 2 especially when u consider kinchen fight.

Terry Norris against Donald Curry. Despite the fact that he was on the upswing and Curry on the down, Curry still unloaded some bombs on Norris without Terry wilting before taking out Curry in the 8th.

That he did and it is because while an excellent fighter , Vitaly was really a good but nt terrific puncher .. he really won beating guys down .. his brother was a much bigger puncher shot for shot ..

Norton taking dozens of Ali's best without blinking .. now Ali was not a very big puncher but he did make men respect him when he planted himself to some degree but somehow Norton , who nearly fainted against punchers never wavered ..
