I remember the promoter saying that Duddy's folks were given a list of opponents and they went for what they perceived to be the weakest. Lyell is the hometown fighter, but in fairness, Burns was trying to get Duddy down to 154. This fight was a catch weight and John missed it so I'm sure weight drain was an issue here. That said, Billy Lyell had to eat extra to make the MW limit to get the fight sanctioned. I remember an interview where he said he didn't know the contract weight. His issue was just making the minimum MW limit.
