Excellent boxers with a single glaring liability (one terrible attribute)

Floyd can't throw combinations. He has to reset after every single punch he throws. Early on in his career he would try and throw combinations, no fluidity and it would result in him getting tagged. His safety first style isn't because of his mentality IMO, it's because he can't throw fluid combinations. So he came to rely on throwing one shot at a time.

Sergio Martinez's balance/pivots? If I remember correctly, Martinez used to get drop constantly in his fights (Williams, Pavlik, Macklin, Murray, etc...) and a lot of these were from a combination of poor balance and an inability to pivot out of a punch when circling.

    Wayne Mcullough.

Granite chin, good boxer, good stamina.

Unfortunately he couldn't break an egg. No power at all.

I don't think Froch was mentioned before because the thread asks for a single flaw while Froch is basically every technical flaw a fighter could have embodied in one fighter. I mean where would you begin?

As for other fighters flaws. Mayweather, if he has any weakness it's his brittle hands.

Joe Calzaghe, open to the right hand.

James Toney, didn't cope with movement very well. Guys like Nunn, RJJ and Griffin all gave him trouble by using lateral movement, often turning him and keeping him out of position.

Vitali, lack of inside game. Everyone mentions Wlad in regards to this but Vitali couldn't fight well on the inside either. He always clinched on the inside as well like Wlad. It's just he used an uppercut when he needed to, to keep opponents away and while not as quick as Wlad, Vitali's movement was actually better than Wlads, moving laterally more, so he didn't need to clinch as much.

Matvey Korobov's laughable stamina. Probably worse than Canelo's. Great boxing skills, though, and amateur legend.

    It can be.

Meldrick Taylor, for example, had too much heart for his own good.

Yeah, his style of movement was a strength...until it became a weakness.

Absolutely not true, first of all. Second, that is a broad vagary, not an individual skill.

What doesn't he do well? Block? Slip? Parry? Evasive footwork?

I think he just hasn't had a chance to use his defense the way he destroys his opponents. It's pretty stupid to say it defense or chin is questionable because of this :-(
