Does Ray Leonard losses at the end of his career hurt his legacy? Did Ali's? Roy Jones has been shot for years, I don't think anybody takes his recent losses into account. And it's not like Pac has taken non-stop losses like he has. Anybody who was calling Roy Jones the goat was spitting hyperbole. Jones even at the peak of his career didn't have the record to be called the GOAT. Pacquiao's achivements and legacy are head and shoulders above Jones. There's no reason a loss at the end of Pac's career can muddle what he did during the rest of his career. Boxing fans are fickle and only remember your last fight. When years pass people will look back with better objectivity. Not many ? More like none, since no one else has ever done it. Pacquao holds the record for division championships and lineal titles and it may never be broken.
At his best he was an offensive machine. Some of the combinations he could throw were just ridiculous. People can laugh, mock him and underrate his abilities all they want, but when you look at the footage of some of his fights, he can be dazzling in the ring. Not in the same, slick and polished way as Mayweather, but in a raw, furious and energetic sense. Since 2005, the only fighter who has been able to beat him is Marquez (when you put aside the bad decision in the Bradley fight). Pac is one of the great fighters of this era.
Pacquiao's a ****ing legend. An underrated/disrespected one now at that. Probably a lot of it's backlash for some fans calling him the GOAT and whatnot a few years back, but watching him at his peak provided some of the best Saturday fight nights of my life.
