the general consensus is that what Pac has done is extraordinary, some have gone as far to say he's a freak of nature so in light of the numerous drug scandals that have occurred in Sports over the past few years it's inevitable that some people are going to suspect foul play. Some people are struggling to look past the fact the initial implication came from a Mayweather as if it makes it less valid but in my opinion the reasoning behind it is more important and in this case there is solid reasoning behind the implication. Aside from the fact Marquez hasn't been able to move up in weight as successfully as Pac there are other reasons he could have decided not to ask for OSDT then. Marquez's most impressive attributes aren't a direct result of his athletic prowess but more of his technical abilities whereas with Pac his athletic abilities namely his endurance, speed and power are key to his fighting style. Pac has undoubtedly improved as a technical boxer over time but his athletic abilities account for a large part of his success. It's well reported that as you move up in size there is almost always a pay off but in the case of Pac there hasn't been and for that reason foul play is a plausible accusation. A fight of this magnitude between Mayweather and Pac would have also provided the perfect platform for boxing to declare it's a sport that is moving with the times and ensuring that it's competed on a level playing field. These are just a few possible reasons. Personally I never suspected Pac of taking any PEDS and when the OSDT clause was made public I thought nothing of it, even more so when I saw Roach laughing and joking about it in an interview but the change in stance by team Pac as it went on seemed strange to me.
It would be a valid demand if it became an overall rule by the commision. Its not valid when u rule 1 fighter out of 40 out just because your daddy has a suspicion.
You made good point but your reasoning is wrong. The contracted weight was 144lb and that is just PRIVATE agreement on the contract between two fighters, sometimes it is just gentleman agreement (as with Marquez) sometimes a legal penalty is included in the contract (as with PAC). The PRIVATE agreement about the contract weight must agree however with the OFFICIAL rules, and if one of the fighters is defending belt at particular weight class then both of them must fit BELOW the OFFICIAL weight limit ... and there is NO LOWER WEIGHT limit that for example Jones Jr was able to fight Ruiz scoring only 198 lb on the scale. In case of Floyd - Marquez they were both fighting for the peanuts (not for any belts) so they both could break the contract agreement and come by to the scale at 160lb and the fight would still go on .... but would not count as WW fight or improve their WW ranks in any organization (except Ring which have his ranks from a moon).
Althought Hatton legpressed 500lbs, none of Mayweathers other opponents have put on 33lbs before and become fitter, faster AND stronger... im not saying Pacquiao is on PED's but it certainly raises some questions that I know people were asking before Mayweather brought it up.
Yes, because its unheard of to gain 33lbs in 15yrs. One question. Did u weight the same amount at 31 than u did at 15? ****...at 15yrs old I weighed 135lbs. Im now 30 and weight 180. Does that mean im on ped's?
Unfortunately Mosley took steroids before and I'm sure he gladly took this opportunity because he has more need to prove he doesn't cheat anymore. Plus Mosley is in need of money much more than Manny and isn't as big as star as Manny so he decided to give in. Not the same case at all.
no its not uncommon to put on 33lbs in 15 years, but... ...Pacquiao has put on 17lbs from when he controversially beat Marquez in 2008 (Pacquiao looked very slow and sluggish compared to his previous performances @ SFW... beginning of his decline maybe? he was 30 after all) and all of a sudden out of nowhere he is faster, stronger, heavier AND fitter than ever before.... come on man, you cant honestly say u arent even slightly suspicious?!!!
:yep:yep:yep Sorry bud, but that really made me laugh. He signed the fight, all that matters to me. Good luck to Floyd, Shane by KO.
Maybe thats because Marquez didnt go up 3 divisions in a couple of years, and knock most people out brutally on the way. I think everyone is overlooking the most obvious reason Floyd asked for the tests. He though Pac-Man was on something. Age 26 hes fighting at Featherweight. Age 30 hes fighting at Welterweight, and beaing guys in even more devestating fashion than he did at Featherweight. Im not saying he IS on something. Im just saying its not surprising Floyd wants his to take the tests. The same tests that Mosely(A former drug cheat) has no problem taking. If Pac has nothing to hide.Take the tests, and gice us the one fight everyone wants to see. The 2 biggest boxing superstars of this era getting it on in the ring.
i honestly don't think mayweather will ever fight pac. he'll keep making **** up until it all blows over. he knows pac is the one and only guy who has a real chance to take his 0 and he will NEVER risk it. guaranteed.
Maybe because he went from fighting 130lbs division in 3/08 to fighting in the 147lb division in 12/08, that's 9 months, and not only that he's been winning but in the manner in which he's been winning. Now I never thought about Pac being on any PEDs but it's not hard to understand the Mayweather's and other boxers suspicions. At the same time Pac says he doesn't know what a steroid is, Ariza says Pac doesn't really know what he's taking that Ariza just gives it and Pac takes it. And Pac not wanting to take a random blood test and refuses a certain time frame proposed by PBF because it's too close to the fight and turns around and takes a blood test for the Clottey fight within the time frame that the Mayweathers proposed and which he (Pac) refused. This just adds fuel to the fire.
