He did far more than "his job." Watch the way he mocked and mugged during the fight with Leon. Knowing Leon was beyond shot should have reigned in the tendency to be a vindictive A-hole, but that was his idiom.

he did the same thing in the second Saad fight.

I don't hold it against him. I mean, this is boxing. The best fighters have killer instinct and have a fire within them.

He was champion and somebody is in that ring to take his title.

And others don't act like that. I'll root for them.

Why shouldn't a man enjoy his job? Kovalev does.

Qawi seemed like a real sadist in there. Obviously, a mean streak is helpful (necessary perhaps) in a sport like boxing, and there's a little sadism that can come into play. Even the image-conscious Oscar De La Hoya couldn't hold back in interviews how much he liked seeing opponents bleed and how it made him want to just to see more blood.

But Qawi, along with Terry Norris, are probably the two most visibly sadistic fighters in the ring I've seen. Qawi looked like he was having the time of his life beating the **** out of poor Leon and taunting him.

It was kind of dull, but I actually enjoy re-watching it, or at least the highlights of it (I make highlight reels out of damn near every big or exciting fight). I'm generally not a fan of watching awkward fighters, but Spinks is an exception.

I loved the things he did in there against Qawi. Throwing about 20 straight jabs and then digging a right uppercut to the ribs. Towering above Dwight, yet getting low enough to throw a jab to the body, and following it up with an uppercut to the body. Hooking off the jab, or actually "hookercutting" off the jab. He hit Dwight with some really hard shots.

And let Qawi know in the second round he was no joke. Amazing that Leon and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad hung out together.
