Just watched the fight on youtube. A very boring fight without a doubt but Haye definitely deserved the win in my opinion. His punches were more effective and his footwork and speed easily eclipsed anything Valuev had to offer.

I think Haye deserves credit for the way he fought. Yes, he did dance around but what do you expect him to do? He's in the ring with a 7 foot Champion who is known to have slow footwork - of course you're going to dance rings around him, that's called working someone's weakness. Haye also knows that his own chin is untested and somewhat suspect at Heavyweight, which is another reason he didn't stand toe-to-toe with Valuev - who though is regularly cited as a feather-fisted fighter on these forums has enough power to knock out Haye if given the chance.

In my opinion Haye deserves respect for the monumental achievement. He's only the second man ever to defeat Valuev and proved a hell of a lot of people wrong in doing so. He did look a totally different proposition tonight to the brawler/slugger that we know but he's showed that he can adapt, which is hugely important, especially at this level.
