I'm a journalist from Southampton and have seen Pigford fight twice, this weekend he stopped a reasonable Hungarian fighter to make it 6 wins and five by knockout. He stopped the very durable (but yet to win) Bhecki Moyo and also easily outpointed William Warburton. Unfortunately he's having trouble finding fights as he's seen as high risk and low reward and due to the boxing scene in Southampton and Hampshire not being huge it means he isn't fighting as much as he'd like to. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=626341&cat=boxer In terms of style, he is a very accurate puncher, who mixes to the head and body, he is a come forward fighter and has a sharp jab and left hook to the body. I'd say he'll become British champion at least at Welterweight, and he'll then move up to middleweight at some point.
Joe Pigford is a very very good fighter. I saw him box on quite a few Golden Ring shows and he must only be about 18. Has massive power and will go on to do great things.
:rofl I wish I was him, nah just someone who has covered boxing before for the Southampton Daily Echo, generally I do all the normal news stuff. As for videos he's only been fighting small town shows, but hopefully a bigger promoter like the Coldwell's of this world will give him a chance to shine, that's the trouble with the boxing scene down here, there's not many interested promoters. We have a trainer trying to do his own shows (Wayne Batten) passionate guy but the organisation was bad - which wasn't really his fault. But when I went in the dressing room to take down the fight list, virtually all of the opponents had been changed. Anyway back to Joe, eventually he'll have some sort of breakthrough if he keeps knocking people over.
Seems to me that if Joe is that good and has great potential Matchroom would have jumped on him real quick. If not Fast Car then the second tier of promoters would make a move.
Eddie prob doesnt know who he is because promoters dont follow grass roots boxing. I remember i was chatting to frank maloney and he knew hardly any of the gb squad
No-one in Hampshire gets snapped up that quickly sadly, we just don't have the same links to the bigger promoters. He'll get signed up eventually mark my words.
