If they fight within the next year to 15 months, I'll be happy. I laugh at all the soap opera bull**** because the guy hasn't signed to fight another unification fight 1 week after breaking his hand in another. I'm not even a Ward fan....and I'd love to see him fight Bute right away, but I'm not particularly worried that the fight won't happen because he feels that, he being the top dog, has the right to have the next biggest dog prove himself. Especially after most weren't hemming or hawing last week before he fought Froch. You know, back before Froch was terrible and shot.
Its all the stuff like saying he has to fight someone first rubbish. Who could Ward be meeting at SMW more accomplished than Bute a winner of 10 world title fights and someone who has looked more impressive against common opponents than Ward
Dont you give JC a bit too much benefit of doubt, here? JC struggled against fighters that where solid but nowhere near great (Reid and Sheika) and had decent but not good power. Why taking for granted he was ducked and not the other way around?
I know the facts and have been watching the SMW closely since its early days. Calzaghe didnt have any trouble with Sheika, beating Sheika clearly when Sheika was a top 10 SMW in 5 rounds. With Reid, Calzaghe hurt his hand and had a tough fight with Reid where Reid landed some good shots, but folklore has taken over. 2 judges had Calzaghe a wide winner as did one for Reid, but all of the live commentary had Calzaghe a clear winner except McCrory who scored a draw with the roar of the crowd and later felt Calzaghe had won. Calzaghe was the away fighter. How could you not score rounds 2, 3, 4,7, 8 ( This content is protected ), 12 to Calzaghe? Remember Reid had a point deducted also. I personally also felt Calzaghe won rounds 1, 9 and 11 though Reid did land the punch of the night in round 9. But please how could anyone not score rounds 2, 3, 4,7, 8 ( This content is protected ), 12 to Calzaghe?. R Reid didnt want to fight Calzaghe when champ. Woodhall was due to but lost against Beyer. The WBC and belt was passed around a bit without a long running champ. Ottke was the only long running champ that didnt lose and he didnt want to fight Calzaghe. Calzaghe clearly stated he was happy to fight Ottke in Germany Read it for yourself This content is protected Ottkes trainer admited in Boxing Monthly that Ottke wasnt interested. Proof is when there were world champs that wanted to unify, Calzaghe took the fights
:deal Ward: Tell Bute to get off my portch and go fight somebody while my hand heals..... when he actually does that.. He knows where to find me.. If ANTHONY Dirrell is such **** why wont Bute sign him up to a fight.. Froch already said he is down.. Ward is incontrol of his own destiney.. he has earned that.. it makes the haters ***** hurt to hear him say NO I don't have to do like you want me to do.. I have been in the ring and earned my status as champ.. I have earned the right to fight who I please, when I please and my #1 ranking confirms this..
You seem worried about Ward facing Bute. Do you think Dog Dirrell is more worthy than Bute atsch Ward has beaten Kessler which does put him up high. But dont you think Ward would want to prove hes the best and fight the best, Bute? Bute has beaten all common opponents clearer than Ward.
Why dont you come on down and tell us why Dog Dirrell is such a worthy opponent and all about his resume . Explain how Bute hasnt earnt his shot please Teacher
Ward, the guy which father learned him to be plain and simple, and therefor calls himself "Son of God" and "Supernatural" - Who - who - who - who - who................. wouldn't love to see him travel to Denmark and fight at Parken Stadium in front of 40.000 spectators.........:bbb:bbb:bbb (S6 was fought infront of 5,700 spectators....:tired)
I really don't blame Ward for telling Bute to ante up......the S6 fighters(the finalists anyhow) fought a tough course.... Bute didn't. And prior to Ward-Froch, almost nobody was really saying anything against the idea of making Bute fight someone top notch before getting the S6 winner. It was certainly mentioned back then. I'm just wondering why everyone has a problem with it now, in hindsight?(not saying you in particular)
Turns out I have a bit of an issue with how stringent Ward was when dismissing Bute as a no-namer in the post-fight interview. Annoyed by the second question about Bute, Ward said "You know what? You know what? Bute needs to beat somebody!!". Bute looks as impressive talent wise as Kessler did back when the Calzaghe fight was getting set up, yet you didn't hear Joe whining about Kessler having to fight Bika or Lacy. What I thought Ward would say, was something about taking some rest and looking at unifying the division to achieve greatness (re: Face Off episode where he says he wants to accumulate great fights to achieve greatness). He said he would LOVE a rematch with Kessler well knowing the man would not be available before late summer / fall, and played matchmaker hinting at Froch facing Bute. Not a champ's attitude if you ask me. ...and to those who are saying the Dog Dirrell fight is good stuff for Ward, I say ICT2005 - Bute wouldn't fight a WBC mandatory when he holds the IBF title... or would he? :huh
