Nothing up on boxrec ATM but the talk is about zappas fight being for the IBO title.....shame Phil is no longer with us or he could confirm/ deny this.
Hi Ashley, Any chance we can use the image of Lenny on the scales to add to the gallery at his website? http://leonardozappavigna.com/photo.html
I thought he was fighting Gamaliel Diaz? My mail is that he is crafty and tough. Gave Linares a good fight apparently. But he might be too small for Zappa... he has spent his career at feather/super feather.
If the talk is right and Lenny's going to get a shot at the IBO Lightweight Title, I wouldn't think it would be too hard for GSP to find a Top 35 rated opponent for Lenny to face? I just took a scroll at the IBO Lightweight ratings and Lenny is currently the cut-off at 35. There are at least 6-10 opponents at first glance I reckon Lenny could face and 'should' have no problems a bout being made. The IBO title I think will be a great progression for Lenny and it will allow GSP to plan some defences, should he win of course, against IBO Top 35 rated opponents. I quite like the merit of the IBO's rating system and time will only tell whether it becomes a force against the other sanctioning fees. My question from another thread - maybe not yet, (later in 2010 maybe?) but is an older 'twilight years' Marco Antonio Barerra someone GSP should be looking at for Lenny in the future? (Name on the resume, experience for Lenny, etc?) MAB last fought against Amir Khan at Lightweight and for the same reasons you would look at for Lenny. I personally think it's a great step.
