If there is some trilogy mindset on both sides, Mayweather would've still wanted the first win so he continued to hold all negotiating powers for the second fight. If Pacquiao does somehow, someway beat Mayweather in a rematch, then of COURSE there'd be a trilogy and it would probably break the first record that they set together.

Money, money, money. When does it stop being about money. What happened to fighting someone because you just want to hurt them, plain and simple.

Anything other than a KO or a clear points win, tends to be somewhat controversial usually. Especially TKO or RTD due to cuts especially when the guy who loses due to the cutting is winning on points.

Even though I disagree with the hoopla surrounding Froch-Groves 1 you can add that one to the list as well. Groves was hurt but wasn't out on his feet it was stopped way too soon, and Groves was winning on points. So he and his fans have a legit excuse to be mad. A lot of the outcomes I cited are somewhat questionable in a variety of ways. Thankfully most matches aren't other than the myriad robberies on points by corrupt judges, but that's another thread I might do later.

It's really good! :good The last grudge match I watched was Golovkin vs Stevens. We all know Stevens just talked himself into the fight, it's admitted. Golovkin was so angered by his over-the-top and distasteful trash talk, that it ****ed him off to a place I've never seen from him before. Remember the twitter incidence where Curtis posted a picture of all his buddies posed around a coffin with the name "GGG" on it?

Golovkin expressed it in English as much as he could about how much he hated Curtis, "I want to fight him before our fight, like street fight. My coach tells me, 'Please, Gennady. Box. Do not street fight.' He [Stevens] is loud mouth."

In a russian interview, he was able to be much more eloquent with his choice of words and described to the reporter how he would make him bleed and beat Curtis until he died. In that fight, Gennady didn't care if Curtis was a nobody. Gennady didn't care that Curtis didn't belong in the ring with him. Gennady didn't care about the money. He simply wanted to fight Curtis to hurt him. He just wanted to hurt him!

Then immediately after the fight with his interview with Max Kellerman, he still showed no respect. He still looked mad. "I ask him one question. Are you serious? [mocking Curtis] Yeah! I'm serious!"

This is why Gennady Golovkin is my favorite fighter. And a fight with Ward would be a great fight, one for legacy, but for Gennady, it also would be a grudge match.

Exactly Boxing needs more of that, fighters are too dispassionate now days I like to see fighters emotionally involved with the outcome of the fight, even if it backfires on them like it did with Pacquiao against Marquez, that was the first time in a long time that Manny really had the fire in his belly to take someone out. Same reason why I love Kovalev, he really gets into to disliking his opponent, he flips them off, calls them pieces of ****, its great yet people throw off on Kovalev for caring so much, which I also find odd fighters need to embrace their inner Tyson a little more.

As far as GGG goes, I love that GGG kept Curtis around for as long as he did just to punish him for his transgressions, he could have taken him out after round 2, but he had to teach him a lesson. I'm already digging the hell out of GGG's war of words with Ward this could get really good.

And thanks for the compliment on the article.:good

Making excuses in life or in sports is pathetic. You ****yze your errors, you live another day and try to do better. Very important factor in sports is when you lose you always will find something in your head. I was a bit tired, I had the flu not long ago and so on. But you never now how was your opponent. You don't know if he was sick or injured. Many and Roach excuses after the Floyd fight were pathetic. It reminds me what a warrior was for example Hearns who didn't go to hospital right alway to check his broken right hand in order not to take the shine away from Hagler victory.

So what I can gather from the OP is that cuts wins no longer count, neither do TKO's or points wins if you cause damage to your opponents vision with your own punches.

They count technically, I'm not saying they should change anything, I'm mainly referring to fan's reactions to their guy winning when it was clearly because of luck or something illegal or a pre-existing injury.

Far too often people act like a cut brought about TKO is the same thing as a KO and brag about their fighter like he knocked his opponent TFO. Or choose to ignore the valid excuse of a fighter being clearly impaired before heading into the ring and acting like that didn't affect the outcome.
