I'll prob get ripped a bit for this, but need genuine advice. I havent worked out properly since before uni, Ive been out for a year now, and wanna get fitter. I'm 6'1 and 15 stone, dont really wanna use weights. I've been running 20 mins a day and doing press ups as a start, but not sure this will have much impact. i know its a small amount but im just beginning and will work up to more, and been told to start with small amount but run fast.
Try High Intensity Interval Training(HIIT)-better for fat loss.Try exercise first thing in the morning aswell. There will be plenty of info on the internet about all this stuff. Also, get your diet right, that's the most important thing.
Thanks, on the net it always seems you find a weight loss programme then you gotta pay to actually access it. Basically I would like to lose 3 stone in a year, is it possible. I played rugby every week form 14 to 17 and was relatively healthy, dunno if that will play a part, muscle memory of whatever.
Forget those sites. They're just scams.Google will turn up loads of articles and stuff to help you with diet/exercise routines.Buy a magazine like Men's Health if you don't already. Weight lifting definitely helps you lose weight(fat) though. It burns calories and any extra muscle gained will boost your metabolism. www.maximuscle.com That site is useful.Their products are steep but certainly recommended
Which products and why? OP, why do you not want to lift weights? As DJ said weightlifting is very effective at burning fat. HIIT training, Tabata method and barbell complexes are best for fat loss.
I was just told that lifting weights put muscle on fat, i want to burn it off then add muscle. I didnt realise you can achieve both at the same time.
Starting slowly is vital when begining any exercise program! Sounds like you have the right mindset. Many people get impatient because they aren't seeing the results in the beginning...they prompty intensify their workout and quit. Don't be that guy! Start slowly, progress and DO NOT MISS WORKOUTS.
Try to include swimming an hour or so at a decent pace. That is an amazing low impact workout that will give you great results if you put enough effort into it.
Thats like hitting a fly with a sledge hammer. If the OP is tough enough to withstand the above, then he will have NO problem losing fat.
Yeah all I see people talking about is HITT HITT HITT everywhere but that is likely to discourage someone who is just starting out and you dont want them to be discouraged and give up and quit cause they cant do it.
Probably because it's the most effective way. If people get discouraged through hard work then they can stay fat, their choice. HIIT isn't straight into all out sprints anyway, it can be walking into a jog to begin with. If people don't want to do that then they're just plain lazy.
Weights are also excellent for preconditioning, that's the biggest benefit of lifting weights in my opinion, helps strengthen ligaments and tendons so your chances of injury are lessened. Personally I think if you're just starting exercising you shouldn't be trying to run at this point, certainly not at a high intensity anyway.
