That would be the big problem for him here. I agree that when they punch together it wouldn't go Chegaev's way.

Chagaev took the fight on a week notice and took that beating like a man while Haye bitched out. If Haye would have acted like a man the fight had never gone past two rounds.
Chagaev is a overall decent fighter from southpaw stance and for sure would increase his punchoutput when it comes to a fight with Haye. Haye is the fresher man while Chagaev is the stronger that would be a close fight.

Chagaev is only Hayes mandatory as long as no unification takes place.

Haye has the power and Chagaev has a good chin. I think both could take the others best shots, maybe not too many of them either way.

thats why i typed mine.. in case Haye grows some balls and fights a Klitschko the winner will be upgraded to super champion while chagaev would fight someone from the ranking for the regular belt. Harrison of course is nothing to worry about.

The physical advantages are obvious. But there one thing you haven't considered...Chagaev is a much better boxer than Haye. Ultimately, however, I agree...the advantages for Haye are too great for Ruslan to overcome. Though I expect him to win most of the later rounds. I'd say takes a decision 8 rounds to 4. No knockdowns.

I missed Chagaev's fight with Meehan, so I don't know how he's looking these days nor what he has left. I suspect that he can still fight to some degree, but I doubt that he's still top 5 material. I think most boxing fans agree that David Haye SHOULD beat him, but how easy of a fight this will be, is another matter entirely. I guess it depends on how Ruslan shows up... This is a career saver or breaker for both men... If Chagaev loses, he's basically done.... I don't see him coming back to do anything significant, especially if he takes a bad beating... If Haye gets upset, his marketablity as a heavyweight will be ruined, and no one will ever take him seriously again.

It's a closer match than the threadstarter is claiming. Edge to Chagaev for chin & edge to Haye for speed.

I think that is why, when you talk to boxing fans who are from Central and Eastern Europe, they tend to get behind Povetkin more. I think Povetkin is more athletically talented than Chagaev, but he also tries harder than Ruslan.

Erm haye is a much more talented boxer than chag, Hayes amateur pedigree is pretty good, his accuracy and reflexes are underated. I agree that he neglects his skills in favour of looking for one big shot but I also feel people slate his defence unfairly considering he had very little sparring for ruiz. Look at his other fights. No one else at heavyweight slips punches as well. That said nobody at heavyweight appears to duck fights as
much :( . Hopefully he will sign with vitali after the weekend

You know that Chagaev has a better amateur pedigree than Haye.

I think Haye should manage to eek out a win against Chagaev thanks to his superior reach, but it will likely be his toughest fight so far in his career.

Chagaev is 10x the fighter skill and danger-wise than a 38 year old Ruiz was. Ruiz was a complete joke and even Ruiz was able to hit Haye. Chagaev will land multiple times but he doesn't throw very hard punches and doesn't follow up very well on them, Haye should be able to survive them with his average chin.

Keep in mind, that chagaev is smaller than Ruiz, and Ruiz had a great chin, and Haye stopped him. Chagaev will not last as long as Ruiz did. Not enough people give Haye credit on his skills, the guy is a thinking figter, look when he throws, he usually lands, doesn't waste many, draws his man on to his right hand, and lets it go. He's pretty good at setting traps. Does get a bit scrappy sometimes, but he's got enough to beat Chagaev.

Wlad and Vitali would be a different story, but he could pose both of them problems.
