I had just thought about this now when someone was mentioning Margo will want to focus on a body attack on Pac..... what about the reverse though?

Roach is smart, he knows margo has a solid chin. I was rewatching some of the Mosley fight, margo took a beating there flush shot after flush shot all night. Roach also expects margo to try a high output strategy and try to out do Pac's accuracy with volume. The best way to slow that down is to wear him out to the body especially given the speculation that Margo may have over trained and peaked too early. Given the height and reach difference as well, it makes little sense for Pac to head hunt. Margo is slow with an open defense, his ribs will be easy to find and a good strategy for Pac.

    Thoughts?

Good post. This is what I've been saying ever since the fight was signed.

If emmanuel reaches for the stars with headshots, he'll leave himself exposed to being countered, but he can easily pivot and turn after going to the body.

Yeah, if Margo tires before Pac, then he is ****ed. Pac cant go in for the kill with head shots in the early round, if Margo is worn out late in the fight then he will.

What do you think ANTONIO's strategy will be?

I think Margo is going to throw punches in bunches, but I feel he will really employ his uppercuts. Personaly I think this is the punch that he has a better chance in catching Manny with.

He should also put his weight on Manny and lean on him, pushing him to the ropes. Just make it a rough fight.

Margarito is doomed any way u see it. He's gonna leave himself open to Pac counters. Mothafugga is too slow

To be honest Im not entirely sure. I see a lot of the same "im so much bigger" mentality that the last 4 guys had. You need a good defense and good counter punching to beat pac. Clottey had half that and while he didnt win any rounds he basically came out of the fight without a scratch which I dont think anyone can say they have against Pac.

I did think he was realistic when he said he expects to take a lot of shots from all angles from Pac, he knows he has to keep the pressure on him and be willing to take a few shots to land his. I also was impressed by the sparring partner who could mimic Pac pretty well.. but the other guys have been using him and theyve all be KOed by Pac.

The one thing I think is realistic for Margo that he can do to trouble Pac is to back him up. Pac hasnt had to fight backwards since JMM and Morales, he has improved a lot over the years but this is something we havent seen him have to do in a long time. In sparring, Margo's opponents would just cover up while he wailed on them but in reality I think Pac will move to well to get out of the way which will be a problem for him.

Thing is, I dont think there is any plan B for margo if trying to back Pac up doesnt work. If pac moves too well, he is ****ed. Pac and Roach atleast seem like they have more options, if moving doesnt work, what if they try to stay on the inside? With the reach difference all Margo has is the uppercut, Pac with the shorter arms could do well on the inside.

Probably not likely because Margarito is so hittable upstairs, Pacquiao will probably get stuck in lengthy periods of head hunting. You typically have to set your feet a bit more to work effectively to the body, and you can be more vulnerable upstairs whilst doing it.

So i don't Pacquiao focusing on it as a major point of the fight, though hopefully he does mix in the odd body shot.

Also Margo is probably wanting to back Pac up in a straight line, lean on him and push him to the ropes. Pac will be wanting to hit to the body and pivot and move to the side and stay in the center of the ring. I think Pac will win on that one with his speed and foot work.

I think Pac will be head hunting. Death by a thousand left hands.

Margarito doesn't have many options here. He usually just has one style; aggressive brawler, mauling type . He can try to fight more cautious and take advantage of openings like he did in 2nd Cintron fight, but Pacquiao is a much different fighter and won't sit in the pocket to allow Margarito to tea off like Cintron did.

I agree. Margarito himself knows this, and that's why he's been training his abs overtime. Just look at his 6-pack in the weigh-in. Pac also said that he'll use the uppercut a lot because Margarito bends in a lot. Like you said, Roach is smart, and they will exploit Marg's flaws completely.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Margarito visibly hurt early by some of Pacquiao's body punches. Especially the straight left to the solar plexus/midsection.

this fight won't past 6 rounds. pac goes to marg's head with left hook and uppercut.
