    Yes, it is.

    Nearly there...

Do you believe style advantages exist?

You can answer "yes" or "no", then I can stop asking you.

If a fighter uses predominantly the same style all the time for every single fight he can still win against every style of fighter (all things being equal) if he works hard enough and prevents the other guy from doing what he’s good at.

Not in the way you do. No.

A tall guy with a long reach has an advantage if he boxes. But he has the advantage because he’s tall. And because he boxes. So saying a boxer is a “style advantage” in itself is not an unconditional thing.

A boxer who is the exact same dimension as a swarmer or a slugger (or what ever you want to call them) only wins if what he can do prevents the other style of fighters doing what they can do to him.

Imagine there was a style called “limbo sumo” where the boxer punches from an elusive limbo dancing style who between pirouettes can lean sumo wrestling style all over the opposition, what “style advantage” would that present?.

Now I want a yes or no answer to this one mind.

In your opinion of course. However over the years we have seen plenty brawler types beat rangey boxers and vice versa. Like i said before, the result of a bout depends on the ability of the protagonists not what style they have imo

choklab, it is infinitely clear from this conversation that you have absolutely no idea the way in which I understand this matter.

Advantage over who?? I don't think you have even a basic grasp on this problem tbh.

No, in styles analysis, a tall guy with a long reach doesn't have a style advantage if he boxes.

Yes, this is true of any fight. Stop saying stuff like this. We all know water is wet, I promise.

It's impossible to answer that question with a yes or no, so well done there. Mind.

I understand you believe in ingrained advantages because of style on an all things being equal basis. Because you said so.

I said a tall guy. Now if I say a guy is tall I’m talking abought a guy with height advantage. Stop being pedantic.

well ok answer it another way. Mr limbo sumo fights mr swarmer. All things being equal. Who wins and why?

    And you don't believe that?

I know that; and i'm not being pedantic. A tall guy with a height advantage has no style advantage. Style advantages are relative to the opponent's style. A tall guy with a height advantage who boxes would be at a style disadvantage against a swarmer type.

    Holy ****.

The swarmer. Because "mr limbo sumo" is fighting like he has swallowed two tabs of acid.

What exactly have you proven here?

No one is saying the Brawler can't beat the rangy boxer. I say if the boxer has a good chin, he's going to win 80% of the time or more vs. the Brawler, especially in the mid to lower weights.

Bust suppose the abilities, ages, and weights are close enough. Then I bet the styles formula rings true at least 60% of the time ( I'd guess 70% or higher ) , meaning there is some value in it.

no I don’t believe in anything being ingrained. Rules are to be broken.

    getting there.

no the tall guy who boxes can’t have a disadvantage when he wins can he? Thomas Hearns beat Roldan didn’t he and any amount of swarmers. Ray Robinson beat swarmers into the crapper. He flushed them. Each style beats each other style. The advantage is with the guy who more successfully uses his style. It’s not the style itself.

it depends on how successfully mr sumo-limbo employs his unconventional technique dosnt it? I can see the swarmer irritated to absolute madness until the frustration neutralises him into total ineptness just as many times. All things being equal.

I respect your answer although I don't totally agree with it I'd say it's 50%
However Mcgrains response to the same post is to call me crazy! Go figure.

A rule must first exist in order that it can be broken.

You honestly are talking like a crazy person. You are talking like someone has told you that a style advantage precludes victory on the part of the disadvantaged fighter.

Of course a style advantage is ingrained. Of course it can be overcome.

You legitimately don't appear to be understanding the post you are quoting at this point. It's crazy.

 of course he can!! He's just overcome that advantage. This is like the twilight zone.

A style advantage is no different to a speed advantage. If a faster fighter is beaten by a slower fighter, that speed advantage is still in existence. It has just been overcome by the slower fighter.

 No. Limbo dancing while fighting will ALWAYS put the limbo-dancing fighter at a disadvantage. You absolute freak of a poster. It's just that, in this bizarre, weird fantasy you have concocted, the limbo-dancing fighter manages to win due to other factors.

"Just as many times." Two equal fighters, one literally limbo-dancing his way around the ring and one executing a traditional style is a 50-50 proposition to you.

    Jesus Christ.
