    I definitely don't think Joe Louis was the hardest hitter in terms of pure force. I think, like Tyson, his superb delivery system made it look as if he hit even harder than he actually did.

    Yeah I mean that's got to be true doesn't it? He could hit hard enough to KO just about anyone but he spent his whole life trying to bait people into space to achieve it.

    Nobody went the distance with Creed, is what i'm saying.

    Yeah, I often see an offshoot of that in forums like this, when people try to rate boxers' punching power just by looking at the number of highly ranked opponents they've stopped.

    Everyones talking about Ingo and Frazier but noone mentioned Jack Johnson being above Foreman. Seriously? Jack Johnson hit harder than Foreman?

    Rocky and Louis were brilliant, but I wouldn't put them that high in terms of pure power. I could see Louis at the top in terms of overall punching, but not raw power.

    Yeah the very evidence the cite is not very impressive!
    Sure he was a great boxer, but they are trying to use evidence of a KO % not that much over 50%-& retired young so no declining years-& overwhelmingly against LHWs to say how hard he hit?

    He hit hard enough for a LHW, but even there was no Foster type.
    But he was a great fighter. He hit with decent force is all.

    He didnt have Dempsey down in their 1 st fight and he ko'd very few heavyweights.A sharp punishing hitter but never a big puncher.

    Louis said the hardest he was ever hit was by Al Delaney,hardly a household name.
    Charles said Bob Satterfield.
    Moore, Durelle and Shepard.
    I'd hazard a guess two of the hardest punchers around today are;
    Efe Ajagba and Izuagbe Ugonoh ,how many are familiar with them? Presumably only champions were considered otherwise the likes of;
    Williams
    Shavers
    Satterfield
    Cooney
    Langford
    Might have made the cut.

    A couple of years ago I had high hopes for Dmitry. Monster puncher... but unfortunately lacking in the chin department!

    When he stepped up the quality of his opponents he seems to have failed.
