Explain how beating Pavlik would do more for Calzaghe than a win over Dawson

If as expected Calzaghe faces RJJ towards the end of the year, it's likely Dawson and Pavlik will fight twice before facing Calzaghe, it should be clearer then what the best match up would be. I would say Pavlik is the easier opponent for Calzaghe.

    It wouldn't.

Dawson's is a much harder style for Calzaghe than Pavlik's. Pavlik is also smaller. He'd need quite a while to build up to the weight. Given his and Calzaghe's schedules, he doesn't have the time to build up properly.

Fortunately for Dawson, Calzaghe doesn't have power. So...Dawson might still survive 12 rounds. Might...

Of course, Calzaghe will fight neither Dawson nor Pavlik, and it's nothing to do with Pavlik's or Dawson's plans but with Calzaghe's. He just doesn't have the hunger anymore. He wants a money fight against a legend. RJJ.
