It's getting old man and why would he go running to Cotto? He Is the champ right? And would you pass up another 20 million dollar payday with oscar knowing you can still fight Cotto down the road for another big payday?

Okay, fair enough. How about after that 'fight' is over? Then what reasons will Mayweather have? Or more accurately, what excuses will his fans make for him?

Also... no one responded to my post so I'm just going to declare myself the victor, the p4p champion and since I am the champion, everyone else will have to prove themselves to me before I am willing to even consider giving them a shot. And of course, just what it takes to earn a shot will not be defined in any meaningful way. Now excuse me while I go prove myself in the WWE because I am the best ever!

Argh. It is boxing. Get in the ring already.

Okay. So we understand that you are very good at tossing internet feces. We are all very proud of you. Now about responding to some of the other posts... like mine perhaps, and ignoring what is a waste of everyone's time.

I already said that if the fight is not made afterward then Floyd is to blame for it so I don''t know what excuses the nuthuggers will have for you (feel free to check my past posts if you want). Another big factor we have to consider as well is Floyd and Arum is going to court and that in itself will make the fight hard to come off.

I can't believe I am saying this but BewarofDog actually had the best point in the second post on this thread when he said " How would Mayweather beat Cotto is the better question?"

That is more the question as traditionally Cotto has the style to trouble a guy like Floyd. Cotto is one imposing mother ****er. He is thick, strong, solidly built, has excellent technique, he is relentless and is mentally tough. Watch the Quintana fight if you want to know how he is going to beat Floyd. When I watched that fight for the first two rounds Quintana was moving well, side to side, avoiding cotto's power hand and hitting Cotto with some huge, clean shots. I thought "man how is cotto going to beat this guy?" But cotto just kept coming and coming, he didn't let the guy breathe, and by the sixth round Quintana was a bloody mess. Yes Floyd moves better then Quintana, he isn't going to get mentally rattled like Quintana did and he is much better at the whole 'hit and not get hit' thing. But for someone with his style, which is the style to beat guys like floyd (see my other posts) he has good foot work, fast hands, a great jab, and will to win. That all spells trouble for Floyd. The things that Cotto has to guard against is that he has a habit of being too much of a puncher (i.e. looking to throw too many big shots) when really what he needs to do is just get in a guy's grill.

As far as how Floyd is going to beat Cotto. Floyd's best attribute is that he works really hard to keep his opponents from figuring out his rhythm. He doesn't bob his head to a beat, constantly move in one direction or throw shots in the same positions. This will help him catch Cotto when he is coming in for longer then Quintana could. As I said before in the Quintana fight Quintana couldn't miss Cotto for the first two rounds but after that Cotto had figured out his rhythm. This won't happen nearly as quickly if at all with Floyd. Cotto will likely try to disrupt Floyd's rhythm and counter punching ability when he is on his way in by throwing out the Jab as he is walking in. In order to deal with this Floyd is going to have to be able to get far enough back to have time to get out of the way of the Jab, stop and then counter. He is then going to have to do his best Carle Lewis and get the hell out of there, or try to sit in the pocket and pick off Cotto's hooks and counter, which Floyd is good at (as well he should look to throw in some forearm shimmies as well - he should definitely not hold cotto would do was Castillo did and break a few of his ribs). Personally, I think that the Carle Lewis route is the smartest.

So basically this fight is going to come down to can Floyd keep Cotto off balance for long enough to ware him down? And can Floyd move and plant fast enough to keep a guy as relentless as Cotto off for long enough to ware him down? Cotto is very good at what he does. And what people who do what Cotto does often beat people like Mayweather. So my guess is that the answer to my two questions is that Floyd can't.
