If Hearn and his acolytes are to be believed then Wilder ducked Joshua. To support this statement they point to the high flat-fee turned down by Wilder. This would have been his highest payday.

They also call Wilder's decision to fight Fury a cherrypick. The motive behind this pick being Fury's grossly rotund physique and poor mental state.

In Wilder's defence, all these statements can be countered.

    1. Flat fees are part of bull**** tactics used by promoters to fool fans who are ignorant of negotiations. Wilder-Joshua would have been a megafight. It does not make sense for Wilder to hurt his own pocket by accepting a flat fee when he could demand a portion of the overall revenue.

    2. If Fury was a cherrypick then why did Wilder agree to rematch him in his next fight?

Wilder admitted to ducking AJ. Also wilder probably figured that based on the first fight, Fury can’t hurt him, and that he’d land another Hail Mary right hand

“You know I was offered more money to fight Joshua than I was getting to fight you”

Wilder stated while making a bunch of bizarre accusations about his Feb. 2020 loss in a Fury rematch. He then proceeded to tell Fury that he “owed” him a third fight.

Defend that halfwit Wilder all you’d like on your new alt. His own words explain that it wasn’t about the money.

    Wilder ducked Wlad
Didn't even want to think about AJ
& Fury was a cherry pick gone wrong

Eddie continually uses Fury & wilder to promote AJ & Whyte.

Got finessed & played by uncle bob.

How does this constitute ducking? Fury was not the attraction Joshua was.

I want to know the timeline of negotiations. Eddie Hearn talks too much.

Fought Fury thinking a win would make his resume look better

Backfired and only took him on again to try and repair the damage done

    That is one interpretation.
Another interpretation: he believed that Fury could be put down for good in the rematch,
He wanted Joshua. How could DAZN have offered him that fight?

    Joshua asks for 50 million

    Al Haymon delivers

Joshua shat himself he didn't think they would deliver then asks WBA to order his mandatory fight

I don't know why people are treating that as proof.

Joshua was a proven money machine who together with Wilder was supposed to make a megafight. Fury by contrast was much less popular.

Of course fighting Fury would get him less money. Should he have not fought anybody after the Joshua deal fell through?

Funny how we are told Haymon is a smart dude who knows where to put his money yet on the other hand ya'll want us to believe he was ready to lose an absolute fortune with the $50 mil for AJ and then Wilders purse so $100 mil lol.

AJ v Wilder wasn't generating anywhere close to $100 million yet Haymon, showtime, Finkel all were quite happy to take a bath. I find that ridiculously difficult to believe.

He didn't want to give away any rights to his fights. Don King used to pull that crap. Fight his guy, have to fighter under his promotion if won.

They even said the fight would be on BT sports in the UK who was not AJs broadcaster.

For reference The Wilder vs Fury 2 card generated at least $81 Million in PPV revenue and at the live gate. That was after the drama of the first fight but AJ (never fought in the US) and Wilder who wasn't drawing big numbers was going to generate $100 mil minimum.

There is just no way $50 mil was guaranteed.

Wilder himself basically admitted it was a duck... Why he wouldn't admit it is obvious - he couldn't continue claiming to be #1 and claiming everyone was ducking him because he's too dangerous if he was ducking a guy with a far better resume and more belts.

    The reason for taking Fury-II?
I think he believed he had a decent chance of winning, and probably truly believed he'd won #1 and wanted the credit for it.
