He reads out the tale of the tape and the rules. This was all the job of a commentator 12 months ago. Money down the drain which could be used to getting better fights.
I think I read that Adam Smith was really keen to work with him again in an interview in BM a little while back. It doesn't seem to be working at the moment, but that's often the case and it might develop, for all we know he's not doing what he's being asked to do. If it's still like this in a month or two's time i think they will have to knock it on the head though.
They're trying to make him their version of Harold Lederman, but they don't give him enough air time and unlike HBO they take ads inbetween rounds, which would be the ideal time for him to give his input.
He does the rules!? You know, he's the rules guy!? He does the 30-second tidbit on the rul...ah **** it. He's pointless.
Yeah Bob needs more input than this. I think Adam Smith reads these forums and no doubt will take these comments on board, which he has done with a few things since he became the head of boxing.
I'd guess he gets in the ballpark of 300 quid for doing the rules. Hopefully they took it off the food budget for Maloney's Latvian heavyweights.
You don't seriously think he's employed to just read the rules, do you? Bob Mee is the stats man, he does a boat load of research and feeds all the commentators. If you're interested in knowledge and insight, you want a bit more of Bob and a bit less of former pros who simply want to toe the company line.
Bring over steve holdsworth too. Him and mee are class. Sky are certainly modelling themselves on the likes of hbo. What I'd like to see is a 3 man commentary team. Anchor and mee and an ex pro. And why not for special ppv bring in someone like steward. I love listening to the guy. Mee's worth to the team is without limit, but they are underusing him. But the have got the right idea by bringing him in
