And to top it off people say he is not ready yet he holds a belt. So he is not ready for a real challenge but was ready to become champion? Then they say its because he has a lot of following and is/will be GBP cash cow, so if he really does have a lot of following and is the next cash cow why the rush to give him a paper belt only to not be ready for a challenge? If you have following and are a cash cow you don't really need a paper championship belt.
Well he had just turned 15 when he went pro, so I cant see how he'd have had too much amateur experience.
There are 2 schools of rearing prospects.... The first is the Gary Russell Jr (I'm a BIG fan) & Canelo route: great talents but take them along SLOW don't necssarily match them soft but be very careful.... The second school is the Maywather, Bradley,Molina, Miguel Vazquez & Ward route, put them in with live bodies early so they will gain the necessary experience to become great fighters. They may take some losses but they will become greater for it.
Who said he ain't ready for Cotto??? GBP was asking for Miguel for the Sept date... (Miguel wanted more "Brian" time) Canelo is Ready now.
Canelo has a lot of fights but is still young. It's the level of comp he's had which has been good but not great. I think we see him taking it to the next level but of course idiots with no understanding of boxing either call him great or a bum, he's neither. He's a very good young fighter that can be great.
