Who cares about Bute? Ward is a top P4P fighter who just won a historic tournament full of well decorated champions. Why would he chase after a contender.

Ward needs to fight Bute.... if he wants to fight a Dirrel first, all poewr to him, but he and Bute (or whoever is regarded number 2 by the end of this year.. must fight by next year..) this is boxing...

    now..... /end

  3. Everyone says Ward is ducking, I don't agree.
I'd imagine he's pissed off at the thought, he agreed to the super six and went through hard fights to get those belts only for another champion who dodged the competition to get a shot straight away for the belts.
If i was him i'd say **** you Bute aswell. Bute pretty much sat out waiting and then fights the winner straight away. Not a chance son. Make him work for it.

Because Anthony Dirrell fought in the S6 and has fought and beaten top SMWs.

Ward's team is smart. They know if Bute beats Froch and/or Kessler the odds of Ward/Bute becoming a superfight instead of a #1 vs. #2 fight increase tremendously. IMO, it's not really about "worthiness" at all, and it's certainly not about fear. It's all marketing tactics.

In an ideal world, Bute will destroy Froch so completely that people will wonder if Bute really ought to be ranked #1 instead of Ward. A number of publications probably WILL rank Bute over Ward. Then we'll have a superfight.

Reasonable explanation. I'm just sitting here shaking my head at the posters that don't even know the history of the tourney 'selection process' making fools of themselves claiming Bute 'ducked' the process so he could wait for the 'weakened winner' to emerge. Dirrell dropping out actually was a good thing for the division. Had he stayed in there was only ONE fight really left. Bute vs SS winner. Now there are at least two or three fights that can be seen as compelling. Maybe more if there are some close fights and styles get us into a cycle where a beats b who beats c who who bets a who..... You get the picture.

Ward needs to fight Bute within 2 fights I think. I would enjoy Bute-Froch before or After Ward though too.

I think there's still unfinished business at 168 that could stand to be resolved.

For one, I think the #2 spot is still up for grabs. There are some people who give the #2 spot to Froch for not only coming in second at the S6 tournament, but having arguably the hardest draw in the tournament - Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward. Their view is that coming in second with that sort of talent pool is better than being undefeated against a much lesser talent pool, and that Froch certainly would have remained undefeated too against the likes of Andrade, Miranda, Brinkley, Magee, Mendy, and of course, Johnson.

On the other hand, there are people who give the #2 to Kessler, simply because how could Froch be rated ahead of him when he lost to Kessler?

And of course, the majority believe Bute is the rightful #2 because he managed to stay undefeated while everybody else except Ward lost.

There is even a growing contingent of the belief that Andre Dirrell is the real #2, as he was robbed against Froch but looked like a major threat until he had to pull out of the fight.

I personally would be interested in seeing a mini-tournament between the four of them and get some clarity on how they rate against each other. Whoever comes out of that tournament the clear winner would have a resume to rival Ward's, and this can all easily be done this year, paving the way for a beginning of 2013 superfight.

Bute is #2 ranked SMW how is Andre "Over 1 year layoff" "Head trauma" "No heart" Dirrell better than Bute ? He lost to Froch and got Knocked-out by Abraham and that makes him better ?

He tries to take on Ward. Isn't that a real challenge. Johnson was in the top4 Super Six he was in the final. The top2 weren't available and the other guy in top4 realized he ain't a SMW. Dirrell lost to Froch, no sane referee would give a fight to the guy who looks like he doesn't want the title. Who's more proven than Bute beside Kessler who's fighting Stieglitz?

He never mention wanting Bute even after his get's rid of Dirrell or Pascal or Dawson or whoever he wants to fight next.
Normally you would leave some doors open for discussions. Normally you'd say we will fight Bute in the near future, just not until he proves himself and not next. Something like that, but he.. until now only said that he doesn't want/need to fight Bute end of story.

He wasn't frigging invited in. What did he wanted ? For Bute to get in WWE way jump in the ring from the first seat? Take a chair and smash Greens bold head? Why he and Froch didn't push for Bute as replacement ? If he wanted Bute in the tournament? He agree with Green, Johnson and Bika as replacements and now he's complaining ?

Than why is he dressing it like that. "He ain't worthy" isn't that discrediting his opponent for the Superfight? Why he ain't saying I'll fight Bute if he proves himself? I head no such thing.
