You could argue that "let him prove himself" is just a more polite way of saying "he ain't worthy". Ward isn't the only S6 participant to express annoyance at Bute or his team for following along on the sidelines and getting a direct shot at titles that six guys worked really hard to unify.

They either don't realize or don't care that none of that is Bute's fault, but it still colours their feelings towards him, so you're going to get harsher language than is probably warranted.

 

Yeeeaahhh I tend to belive that.. but don't let Dirrell get hit with a Bute BOdy shot.. its a wrap.. but if he boxes like he did vs Abrahamn.. Bute is in for a long night..

 

Dirrell is a problem for anybody, there isn't a single fighter at 168 that Dirrell doesn't have a good chance to win against.

 

Bute is just mad cause the ball aint in his court.. he don't hold any playable cards.. I mean the IBF title only calls so many shots.. He really needs some people on his resume.. Ward, Kessler, Froch, Dirrell all have better opposition on their Resume so their is no hopping in front of the line for Bute...:bart

It's all about balls. You want to take a fight that could end bad for you when you've just won the S6 deal? If you are a true champion, you will say: hell yea, I'll whoop his romanian ass anywhere anytime!

If you are not a true champion, you'll start looking for worthless excuses to somehow explain to the world why aren't you willing to fight a guy who has already called you out for a bout. Andre Ward ain't no champion! He is a damn good boxer, but it takes much more to be considered a genuine champion.

It is a good management call not to fight a dangerous opponent right now if you don't have to. It's not fancy, it's not cute, but it's your right to do that. It's legit as they say. However, it is morally wrong to lie about the reason you don't want to take a fight and to come up with such futile explanations to deceive the public and the media.

 

Well he did say a few months ago, that he'd want Bute so he has actually said something.

As it is today, and now I'm just guessing, is that Ward waits to see if a mando is required and he is probably also waiting for Kessler-Stieglitz as he wants to see whether Kessler's promotor, in the event of a win for the dane, will offer a megapurse as he has said he would.
