Explain why Andre Ward isn't in your top 5 P4P?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Round1gymDC, Dec 18, 2011.

  1. He has so far been a one weight fighter. He has done very well at 168 but the rest of the top 10 have done well at multiple weights (not counting the Klitschkos of course). He is somewhere near #7 right now.

I don't think Pre super six talk changes Wards P4P rank because he was a prospect then and hadn't fought at a high enough level to really know how good he is.

Also Froch and Kessler are very good wins but I don't think Abraham is all that good of a win as he was 1-2 in hes last 3 fights before ward.

i think it'd be a hard argument to make to have anyone but these 6 as the top 6. The order is more debatable, but there's a drop off when you get to 7.

Abraham or Kessler were most favored to win the tornament. Ward is the only one who beat them both. That says it all. People clown on Abraham now but I bet I can pull up posts before the tournament stating that no one except Kessler had a chance of beating him.

He was a middleweight before the super 6 and sense moving up he he has one win over top level opposition, I am not saying he isn't a good win just not as good as wins over Kessler and Froch.

Abrahams diffently a very good fighter but seems to be more a Middle weight than a super middle weight.

To be P4P you have to have some power, he has none. He is not capable of knocking out anyone in the top 20 of his own division.
P4P is not just skill, otherwise Maglianni would be in top 10.

I have him at #1, he's the best fighter out there today, no question.

:huh Is this really how you see it? Attempting to base it on ONE fight while ignoring the other work Ward has done?

He has a good argument for the top5. The fact that he's not the undisputed #1 in his own weight class prevents him from ranking higher, in my opinion. To be fair though, the 168 division is pretty talented and deep.

So by your analogy, Pernell Whitaker was never P4P?
