When you put dynamite and fire together you expect a violent reaction.
Which fights were cant miss don't blink matchups which didn't deliver when the bell rang?
For example I remember a few years ago barerra was matched with naseem hamed.
2 big hitters with aggressive midsets who would both be going for the knockout every second.
I remember telling a non boxing friend 'watch this one, theres going to be fireworks as long as it lasts. it cant fail'
Result? barrerra completely negates hameds power (as well as some of his own) by boxing cautiously, though very effectively throughout. So we got a cat and mouse chessmatch type of fight.
Great win and tactics by barerra but WHERE THE HELL DID MY SLUGFEST GO?!
In a parallel universe somewhere, barerra and hamed traded bombs and knockdowns leaving those watching with a sense of awe. but in our universe it was a mostly 'sort of interesting' chessmatch.

Which fight did you feel was sure to deliver explosions but just.....didn't?

Well the 2nd and 3rd SRL-Duran fights were both disappointments. Tyson was too old and shopworn to give Lewis the type of fight many expected. Lewis vs Tua was a dud. There's probably about another 75-100 fights one could come up with. Wlad - Povetkin, Mayweather and anyone he fought over the last 3-4 years.

    Foreman-Morrison

It was supposed to be a slugfest between two of the hardest punching HW's at the time, and it ended up being pretty boring.

Can't really blame Tommy, he fought a smart fight, but this fight had a lot of potential to be really interesting.

De La Hoya-Trinidad was expected to be a classic between two young, prime, undefeated, big punchers with (at that time) question marks over their chins but not their talent or desire.

It couldn't miss but it did.

What we got instead was one guy clearly outboxing the other for 9 rounds but who never once looked to unload anything big and the other guy stalking incessantly but unable to pull the trigger at all. If we didn't have the controversial result no one would even remember this fight at all. It sucked.

Juan Diaz vs Michael Katsidis, it was good but I remember that I expected more.

For me, which probably shows how green of a boxer viewer I was at the time, it was Pacman\Mosley. I knew Pac only by reputation and Shane from his heyday and thought it had the makings of a dynamite matchup. Maybe in Shane's prime it would have been but at that stage he didn't have the fire take the fight to Pac. I guess he was worried about getting "Cotto'd".

Chiquita Gonzalez-Michael Carbajal II & III

After their first war, who would have ever thought Chiquita had the ability to turn boxer?
