All props to Mayweather for a brilliant fight, also to Ricky for the courage but either he was too nervous or this one was already marked up to be a huge mismatch. I am not and will never be a Floyd backer, please understand that, but the reach disadvantage and the natural size didn't play such an important part in the outcome of this one - Ricky had no defense running into fast right hands and the kind of left hooks that would finish him, it was a technical mismatch and Hatton only could close the distance in order not to get hit even more and all night long, that's the bottom line.
Congrats to Floyd, great stuff tonight, did what most thought he would and more, getting the KO. If there's one excuse for, or criticism of Hatton I can make it's this, he fought an effective fight against Tszyu but he left his run too late, having trawled through film of some of his fights he should've been fighting at this level half a decade earlier (there was a 4-5 year period where he just stagnated, fighting bums under Warren).
How can you loose to the 'best fighter of our generation'and be 'exposed'?! No one takes you seriously anyway because you allow your personal dislike of Hatton to get in the way of objective thinking. I'm actually a bit embarrased even responding to one of your litttle rants. Witter (even though I think he would beat Hatton) would not be as competitive as Hatton against Mayweather.
Dosen't matter about timing. The defensive failings of Hatton were never enough to beat Floyd and he's always had this weakness. If this fight had happened 4 months after Tzyu the result would've been the same.
:huh I really did. Go look for a post of mine. In fact I've always picked Floyd in all of his fights for as long as I've been posting on here.
What a stupid thread title. How exactly was Hatton "exposed"? He gave PBF one of his toughest fights, so to berate Hatton doesn't exactly say much for Mayweather.
In the end Floyd did what he said he would do all along: show that Hatton is one-dimensional. The truth was found in the ring as all Hatton could do was miss floyd, come in blindly, hit him with useles shots, fight dirty and wrestle in close. The funny thing was that Floyd exposed Hatton at his own game. In the end when Ricky missed with his shot and got counterpunched he wanted to hold and wrestle Floyd,.....but Floyd moved away so quickly that Hatton went forward and smashed against the post thinking he could hold and wrestle Floyd. From the post he fell backward again and he was done. Pretty funny and symbolic KO that was. Brilliant performance. Hatton did great with the (one dimensional) abilities he had and put up a courageous effort. But he should stick to fighting other brawlers. Against class-boxers he will find his one-dimensional flaws over and over.
Yes, this really is a stupid thread. Being beaten by the P4P 1 isn't being exposed. Hatton had his moments, but Mayweather is a step above. This was by no means an easy Gatti-esque fight for Mayweather. Please, get some class and give credit where credit is due.
floyd didnt domionate anything. he dominated gatti and baldomir. not hatton though. floyd did control things after round 6 but i believe the body shots slowed hatton down alot so i give props to fm for landing them. hatton was stalking floyd like he had never been stalked before.
