I agree thats why I don't argue with them. Hatton came in there with his usual style and went up against something he's never experienced or anticipated. Hattons fans said Floyd couldn't overcome his aggressive style, he'd knock him out etc.. and its a done deal at the end of the day. Floyd the greatest of our era and probably the greatest ever, next to John Ruiz of course.
perfect avatar. Hatton head landed perfectly in the center of the star. just one of my observations carry on.
But only the type of people who get fooled by every hype job HBO can get their hands on thought he was going to steamroll Floyd. Anybody who has a bit of common sense could see that this was probably going to be the outcome. Maybe not the stoppage but vertainly the way the fight went. Hatton was 43-0 against decent opposition. Not bad, not amazing, but decent. Again, nobody with boxing knowledge thought otherwise. So I still don't see how he was exposed. He was just beaten by a bigger & better boxer. Where is the surprise? What was exposed other than hype? Hatton is not responsible for the hype, that is out of his control. He said it himself - he could have sat in the UK scooping up cash against good fighters, but chose to test himself against the man even HE called the best P4P fighter. Give him credit for trying! The hype was exposed, Hatton did as well as was reasonably expected if not better.
Had Hatton been blown out in one, or not been competitive at all (in the same manner that Gatti wasn't at all competitive), then I would understand why people might say that he was exposed. Since most people knew of Hatton's deficiencies (leaky defensive ability, lack of versatility in terms of implimenting his attack) going into the fight, they weren't revealed. Since he remained competitive through the first six, and was trying up until the very end, there wasn't any real sense of exposure in that regard. Hatton is a very good fighter who lost to a great fighter. Happens all the time. Or, perhaps, we really shouldn't give Floyd any credit at all...since Hatton is obviously **** in the ring...
That's what I'm saying. Some fighters can move up & stay effective, some can't. People have short memories - how did Hatton look the only other time he fought at Welter? He simply can't cut it at that weight. That doesn't make him a bad fighter, just not big enough to be effective at 147. He's still an awesome Jr. Welter.... or are we all buying in to the new alternative-hype that Hatton is exposed and not really that good. ...because he lost to the best fighter in the world... atsch :verysad
Who? This board was full of Hatton zealots saying there boy was going to KO Floyd. All of a sudden hindsight has changed there opinion? As for his opposition everything pre Kostya was dire.Apart from Tackie and Magee both of whom gave him a tough fight he had fought no one. And old shot Castillo is not preparation for a guy like Floyd. And neither was Urango or Collazo. As for credit he gets credit for sharing as ring with Floyd yes.But lets be real the fight happened because of his huge drawing power and the money that was made.Hatton like JC is looking for big money bouts.Hatton was beating up cans in the M.E.N to the tune of half a mil a time.Whats he going to do now at 140? Go back to his bread and butter? He didnt do reasonably well as the fight wasnt even close. It was a clinic in precision punching from start to finish. Hatton is a good fighter but the hype behind him was ridiculous even to the days when he was making multiple defences of the WBU.Its nonsense and most of the muppets here bought into it.
OK, so what you are saying is that Floyd is still unproven because he hasn't fought anyone decent yet? Hatton - EXPOSED as overrated garbage ODLH - old Baldomir - EXPOSED as overrated garbage Judah - china chin Mitchell - old Gatti - EXPOSED as overrated garbage Bruseles - LOL Chop Chop - EXPOSED as overrated garbage N'Dou - EXPOSED as overrated garbage etc etc... If every fighter who loses is "exposed", then no victory is ever meaningful. You can't have it both ways. Either this was a great win for Floyd because Hatton is an excellent fighter in his own right - or - The fight was meaningless and Floyd deserves no credit for it because Hatton is a zero-dimensional bum. Take your pick
Hatton got two much credit for beating over the hill fighters. His style is kryptonite for an old fighter, simple as that.He was never going to beat a Mayweather or any elite Welter for that matter.
i dont think exposed is the right word to be honest. Floyd however has YET AGAIN, proved to everyone just how good he is. /Theo.
So Floyd deserves no credit then. He beat up a bum, big deal. When is he going to step up prove himself against someone good? ...is that what you're saying?
